Was your TTC path different than you expected?

It was a little different than I expected. I have always had irregular periods since I was 13... sometimes I would go 5 months without getting a period if I was not on birth control so I expected a difficult time getting pregnant.

It took us 4 cycles - which I feel like is pretty average. We were blessed to not have difficulties like I expected. Hopefully we will have the same luck for baby #2!

The summer before I got pregnant I was running a TON and even ran a marathon. I 100% expected to be that pregnant running mamma with the big bump up until close to the end.... but after two months of trying to get pregnant gave up on running temporarily. Whenever I ran a lot my periods would get even extra irregular. I'm a thin person so I figured maybe my body fat was too low while running.

Now that LO is 7 months I'm trying to get back into running and it's not easy! I know with a little time, I'll get back into the groove.. but probably no more marathons until I have way more time on my hands.

@ninja: I love the "fertile myrtle" nickname! I called my friend/co-worker the "fertile crescent" because everytime she just looked at her hubby she got knocked up!

I thought it would take about six months to get pregnant, especially since I had been on a birth control pill a year prior to trying. That pill really messed up my cycle and my body. After getting off it I had long cycles, 34-42 days. They weren't predictable. Instead of taking a while, as soon as my IUD came out I got pregnant, before I even got my period that cycle.

Now I know I'm so fertile, I'm going to be SUPER careful after this babe comes. I want 2.5-3 years in between babies.

Yep! I was expecting it to take way longer. We got lucky on the 3rd cycle. I was 33 so expecting it to take at least 6 months. And given I know so many that had miscarriages, especially in my family, I was expecting one of those.

I thought we would need more intervention due to my PCOS. (I don't usually see AF for up to a year at a time).
    We got pregnant while NTNP.
Then due to my PCOS and thyroid issues, I had a 40%chance of miscarriage. I am so thankful that I didn't have to experience that, nor fertility treatments.
My heart goes out to everyone that does need treatments / suffers a loss.

Also, I thought I wanted to be one and done. I am already begging for #2.

Definitely not what I expected. I feel as though I had reasonable expectations & took the "could take 12mo" to heart and didn't stress, especially since I'm very healthy & always had normal, healthy cycles. Never would have imagined it would take over 4-1/2 yrs including one m/c & cost enough to feed & arm a small country, due to "unexplained infertility." Thankfully, we're currently expecting twins from IVF so it was all worth it.

This journey is going kind of how I expected it, though if someone had told me I would have a loss, I probably would have said "no way". Otherwise I knew I would need medical interventions before we even started and I'm going to give them some time to work before thinking that this is taking too long.

I am 28 and dh is 29, didn't think it would take very long at all..

It's been 6 months and a shock that it is taking this long since we are both young. Now after pcos diagnosis and not ovulating on my own, I realize how tough it can be.

    Staying positive!
