Dawson

Do you think "Dawson's Creek" has ruined this name? I still like it for boy or girl actually.

I do think of Dawson's creek but that doesn't ruin it for me. I like it for a boy. Not so much for a girl.
Mostly I think of a guy i knew who went by Dawson (last name but that's what everyone called him).

not really a fan. I've never heard it other than Dawson's creek and when I think of that show all I can think of is this.... lol

I grew up next to a town called Dawson, which is why that name would be out for me. Overall though, I don't think it's a bad one - although I'd err on the side of it being a boy name!

@stiletto_mom: Meh, I don't think of the show (until I saw that photo, haha).
I like it. - I think it could work for a girl or boy.
I'm named after a character on a 70's soap opera, and no-one ever mentions it (my name is really unusual), so I think it was pop-culture related then, but now no one makes the connection.

I've never seen the show and have no idea what it is about, but the name has always sounded more like a last name to me.

@Mae: Ya, this was the image I was hoping to not trigger in people LOL

Yeah. I think of Dawson's Creek. But that show is getting old.
I worked with a dude named Lawson, thought that was pretty cool.

I missing something, what is the name? I see a pronunciation cue, but not the name.

I like the name, I used to babysit a boy Dawson. Yes it was a show, but it's been off the air for what 12 years at least?

@stiletto_mom: A friend of mine has a nephew named Chandler. She claims her sister thinks that her son will never have to deal with the Friends reference because he's so much younger...and I think she's wrong! I find Dawson to be similar....I immediately think "Creek" when I hear that name! However I do like the name! For what it's worth, I LOVE the name Dexter and would have used it.....were it not for Dexter Morgan, TV serial killer

I will always associate it with Dawson's creek because that is the only time I have ever heard it.

I loved Dawson's Creek but I don't associate it with the show. I teach a Dawson and he's a great kid so maybe that's why I associate it with him instead. It's NMS but I like it well enough.
Also, kids today have never even heard of Dawson's Creek so his peers wouldn't make the connection

I used to love DC so it really just makes me think of that, but @Charm54: is right--there's only going to be a small range of people that grew up with the show so it'll probably be fine. It wouldn't put me off if I loved the name.
