@Mrs. Sunshine: I'm so so sorry for your loss. I know the pain you're feeling and it's crushing. I was just coming on HB to post about our love-bug who was hit by a car last Friday and passed away instantly. He was only 4 years old & we'd had him since he was 10 weeks. It is gut-wrenching and all you want to do is tell everyone what a special, loving, extraordinary blessing you had who is now gone. You said everything about Wubby that I could have said about our Cooley boy: our first child, our hiking buddy, the best big brother, our snuggle-bug, our kitchen cleaner (in fact, my husband just cried when he swept up the dinner crumbs). I was reading old HB posts and someone mentioned a notebook full of happy memories. I think we're going to create a scrapbook with pictures and stories, memories, habits written down - all the little things we've been remembering these past few days. Maybe that will help you heal? We hope it will help us.
Perhaps your dog & mine have found each other in doggie heaven? Dachshunds were the only dog that could send our Springer Spaniel scampering away! Maybe she's chasing him right now. Here's a picture (he's cuddling a toy potato).

@JoyfulKiwi: I'm so so sorry for your loss. Especially terrible because he was a healthy pooch. At least he didn't suffer like Catch is now.

@FliegepilzHut: he did better yesterday. He drank about two gallons of water. Yesterday he ate about four ounces of steak. But he woke up this morning worse than ever. I think we're at the end

She's gorgeous. I'm so very sorry for your loss. My parents lost a doxie about 5 years ago for the exact same reason. It broke my family's heart to have to put her down, but even if they could have afforded the surgery odds of recovery/quality of life were very low. Thinking of you during this very tough time
