We aren't telling a lot of people we put in an offer in case it doesn't work out, but I'm dying to hear back! They have until 9pm tonight and it's almost 3:30pm....This will be our first house so this is all new and exciting, but I am so anxious too.
How long did it take to hear back when you put in an offer on a house? Did they accept or counter?

it took us a couple of days because the sellers agent was on vacation, but they came back and countered and we countered back and they accepted. All this was going on the day i also purchased my wedding gown. Talk about stressful i'm surprised i didnt throw up that day.

Good luck!!! The owners countered when we made an offer. We countered right back and we met in the middle.

We went back and forth a few times before the offer was accepted. They got back to us pretty quickly to reject the initial offers. The anticipation was killing me too!

We gave the sellers’ 24 hours to respond. They countered with something ridiculously stupid (we offered full asking price and they wanted to haggle about partially filling the propane tanks – about $700 in total) so we countered no to their counter, gave them 8 hours to respond and they agreed to throw in the $700.

So exciting!!!! We have put a few offers in on houses. Most of them took a couple of days. The first house we ever put an offer in on, the couple took 3 days....THREE DAYS to get back to us to tell us...they decided not to sell the house. I was so distraught. I was in love with the house, too. They apparently had it on the market so the real estate agent could babysit the house while they were in Europe. 
I learned my lesson then, don't give people days to consider your offer! We were young and naiive.

@mediagirl: oh my gosh now I'm even more nervous! We gave them until 9pm tonight, and we wrote the offer at noon yesterday.

The house we are under contract with, we submitted the offer around 5pm on the 29th, got their counter the next morning, we countered on the 31st and by 5 that night we were under contract.

If it makes you feel any better, we accepted an offer on a house today and it kind of came down to the wire because our realtor didn't get one of the pages to us. So sometimes things can be a little delayed, but it doesn't mean anything...

Update: They countered and I think we are going to accept As long as inspections go well we will have a house, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.
