When you receive save the dates for out of town weddings, when do you expect to get the actual invite with date? We have an out of town wedding this year and our kids are part of the wedding party. We are about 6 or 7 months away and havent been told the date yet and plane ticket prices are going up! We also have other vacations and events planned and cant tell if this will clash. Is it rude to reach out and ask for more details? Or is it better to just wait and see and then if the final date doesnt work just decline?

@Mrsbells: if your kids are in the wedding party you can definitely reach out for more details. That’s not rude, that’s you trying to do everything you can to make it to the wedding!

So the Save the Date didn't give the actual date? I think that's weird!
Since your kids are in the wedding party, I'd just ask. I don't think that'd be rude at all since you need to know now to ensure you can actually be there. -
Also a “save the date” should include... the date?

@josina: So it was an informal save the date message that just gave a 2 month range because they were still finalizing things...

You can’t send out a save the date with a two month range, that’s absurd! People are supposed to not make any plans for two months? I would definitely reach out and ask.

So weird. a "date range" is not accceptable. Definitely ask if they've chose. If they haven't, tell them you have other things that need to be scheduled and will do so accordingly. If it interferes, oh well. They can't expect anyone (especially those in the wedding party) to wait indefinitely.

Yes. Reach out and ask esp bc you have to fly. And the kids are in the wedding party.
