@LuLu Mom: I was always told you needed to eat all your points, give or take 1 or 2, in order to max your weight loss. Guess this isn't true in your case.

Great job for your first week! WW was really helpful for me my senior year of high school!
I've got about 20 pounds left to go. I've been doing barre for about 2.5 weeks, and started eating paleo a week ago. It's made a huge difference already. I'm also tracking in My Fitness Pal. I was up 25 lbs on June 1st and those 5 lbs melted off SO quickly! I think (hope?) the rest comes off really quickly once I go back to Crossfit and the HIIT factor is there.
If you guys are looking for some great at-home videos, a girlfriend turned me onto Blogilates.com.....the videos are great! I've had some serious burn from them and some are short, some are long, and you can do different videos back to back to get a whole body work out. She also has some great recipes.
Today I had a green chili turkey burger patty with a fried egg and two pieces of bacon for breakfast and for lunch I had a salad with grilled chicken, diced fruit, avocado, and homemade balsamic dressing. I'm trying to drink a LOT of water, too, but it's hard with the baby. I drink so much more when I'm at work and cognizant of it.

@Smurfette: Oh really? I had never heard that, the only time I ever eat all my points is if we go out to eat or I have alcohol. I feel like eating all the points would make me eat more than I did before I started dieting, I can't see me losing weight that way?
And I am a huge veggie and fruits eater so that doesn't add toward my points. I'll have to keep that in mind if it starts to slow down.

@LuLu Mom: that is so awesome that you get up so early to work out! I have set my alarm so many times and just sleep through it...I need to start working out and the only time in going to do it is the morning. I need someone to be accountable to in order to force myself out of bed in the morning.
My usual meals are:
8am Breakfast - bacon and egg with hot sauce. Small glass of cranberry juice or coffee
12pm Lunch - chicken and salad (usually rotisserie chicken)
4pm snack - fruit
6pm Dinner - protein (steak lately or more chicken or sometimes fish), and veggies.
8pm Snack - cheese and salami or a handful of nuts

I am totally in. I had lost about 40lb on ww before pregnancy and now I am back to where I started then! This time I want to get to my ideal weight which is 60lb loss. Am into my third week and down 4lb. Am being a lot more active too. No gym, just me and LO going on walks.
@Smurfette: I am totally stealing this idea! Easy way to save for the new wardrobe I will need when I get to goal. Or something pretty to celebrate.
@LuLu Mom: @Smurfette: is right in that you generally are supposed to eat all your points for weight loss and nutrition. Nothing is 0 if you eat enough of it so you might be making some points up in fruit and veggies.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: that sounds so good!
I joined WW this morning. The amount if points is insane if you are BF. Brought my lunch to work and lots of healthy snacks!!

I had a weird breakfast, but I think it will tide me over till lunch. I eat two meals a day at the company cafeteria, so I have no reason not to make good choices.
I had a banana and raspberry smoothie, made with low fat yogurt and protetin powder, 4 points. I ate a hardboiled egg (2) and a slice of rye bread with mustard (2) just now. I usually do oatmeal with fruit (4 or 5) or an egg white omelet with spinach, tomato and bell peppers, topped with a bit of cheddar cheese and salsa (6, including some olive oil).
I struggle with lunch, but I am committed to reading the posted menu BEFORE I go to get food.

@Smurfette: haha, it was delicious, but according to MyFitnessPal, it was 370 calories, which is way more than I can afford. Ugh. Based on my plan for the rest of the day, I'll be over by 300 calories. Which sucks, because that means I WOULD'VE been under for today for a change!! Darn it!
Yay for joining WW!!! Did you weigh in this morning? Are you going to weigh yourself weekly on Wednesdays? I weigh-in on Mondays.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@looch: Yum, your breakfast (both what you got today and what you usually get) sounded delicious!
Our work recently started to put up calorie content on their signs (and I think you can get them on-line too), so yesterday I was able to get a pretty delicious lunch that was only 370 calories! They also put the fat/protein/etc content so you can figure out the points, which is nice.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah, weighed myself this morning. I save all my weekly points for during the weekend, so I like to weigh in the middle of the week to give me some time to recover from the weekend.
That is awesome your cafeteria puts the calories up, ours doesn't do that.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Adira: I think they put up the calories, but not sure about the other information, i have to pay better attention at lunch...although today I plan to go to Banana Republic to use one of their weekly 40% off coupons to get a new pair of pants!
@Smurfette: I don't really "get" the weekly points, when I went over the daily points allotment in the first weeks, I didn't loose a lot of weight (less than a pound) so I really try not to go over. Any tips?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I used to do the same thing when on WW! That's probably a good idea to weigh-in on Wednesday because of it. I weigh-in on Monday when calorie counting in the hopes it'll force me to eat better on the weekend. So far it hasn't worked...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@looch: Unfortunately, not ALL the food has the calorie (or other) information. But a lot of it does, so I'm trying to stick to those and make healthier choices. They also try to indicate if something is "mindful" or not with a symbol, and those tend to be more healthy.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@looch: I usually always used them. I keep them as my fun points for the weekend. If you have better luck not using them, then I wouldn't. I think some weeks less then a pound is normal. I know when I did it before, sometimes I would lose nothing for two weeks and then the next 3 lbs.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
@Smurfette: i weigh in on Wednesday's too! I had no lose this week, wish surprised me because I was down 2 pounds yesterday...but I am very bloated right now so I have a feeling that might be a contributor!
It's true about the fruit, I also have a cup of whatever I'm snacking on, and that is zero!
nectarine / 2591 posts
@looch: I always use a good portion of mine too but it works differently for everyone. Sometimes I find it's not how many I use but what I use them on.
@Smurfette: So many extra points! It's awesome... love being able to eat that much and lose weight. I need to be at goal before I stop breastfeeding otherwise I might struggle to go back to 26 a day haha.
@Adira: I tried weighing on Mondays with the same thought as you but it was a disaster! Now I weigh on Saturday mornings so I can enjoy the weekend.

@Smurfette: breastfeeding definitely has its perks!! I can't imagine eating the regular amount of points ...

Ugh I need to get back on the fitness/healthy eating train while we TTC. I'll follow along (on myfitnesspal).
I just dread getting on the scale tomorrow morning to start it all out!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@AprilFool: haha, maybe I'll see how this week goes and if my Monday weigh-in doesn't work for me, I'll move it, haha.

Hey Id like to join! I'm not doing WW but I am doing myfitnesspal. I'd like to lose 38-78 more. I don't know how much more. 38 more til I reach high school weight where I was slender, but 78 til I reach model weight according to some beauty app I have. So who knows. Anyways so now I'm just eating low calorie, no junk food and exercising daily! I've lost 50 pounds so far but need more motivation to keep going!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@AprilFool: I know!!! I still managed to eat all my points, well I have 5 left but I will have a snack once LO goes to bed.
@anonysquire: that is awesome!! You should be proud of yourself!!!
Does anyone have any good dinner ideas? DH is gone during the week, so I need fast and easy since I have solo parenting duties.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@smurfette-I did brats and grilled veggies tonight. So easy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So according to MyFitnessPal, if everyday was like yesterday, I'd be up a pound in 5 weeks! Awesome.
Going to try to do better today!
Also... if anyone else is using MyFitnessPal and wants a friend, my username is CharmedThea. Adira was taken.

@blackbird: Don't laugh but I have never used the grill. I leave that for DH. My issue is I don't like a lot of veggies, broccoli and spinach are my favorites but I can't eat them cause they give R gas. I should just make salads on Sunday night, and then all I just can heat up some chicken and I would be good to go.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Don't feel bad - I've never used our grill either. I'm actually scared too because I'm paranoid about everything involving gas! I worry it won't be hooked up right and I'll blow up the house!
I don't have any good advice about food though - my go-to meals are either not quick or they're not healthy, haha! We make a lot of freezer food, like chicken strips, fries, etc. We also make a lot of pasta dishes. Though maybe you could do prep work on Sunday for some meals and all you'd need to do is throw them in the oven or something during the week?
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
My dinners are the most boring meals of the day,it's usually because I only have 8 points left, haha!
Last night was 3 oz of lean steak and a salad. I had a peach and strawberries for dessert. Oh and a sliver of cheese.
I bought two pairs of pants yesterday that are just a tiny bit tight, but I REFUSE to buy the size 12. I just can't do it. So I bought the 10s and hopefully I will be in those in a few weeks.
This morning for breakfast I might do oatmeal, I am not feeling that into egg white omelets this morning.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@looch: haha, it's my size 12s that I can't fit into! Still wearing maternity pants because I refuse to buy the next size up (also... I think Express might only go to size 12...)
That's funny you're thinking of having oatmeal. That IS what I had, but an egg white omelet sounds delicious to me! I wish I had that instead!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: pasta is usually my go too as well. Just throw olive oil and some seasoning and I was good.
@looch: if the 10s were just a little tight I would have bought them too. I agree with @Adira: an egg white omelet would have been better then my oatmeal.
I just ate a snack, string cheese and grapes, and still hungry!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Your snack sounds good. I ate at 7:30 and am trying to hold out until noon for lunch. Not sure if I'll make it...
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Smurfette: @Adira: I have never used a grill either (or a lawnmower, for that matter)! I am just too afraid that I am going to burn off my eyebrows or burn the house down! I seriously need to figure it out, though, because I really should do more *cooking*, and I would feel guilty about asking DH to start grilling everything just because I don't know how!
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Adira: Water to the rescue! Although 7:30 to 12 is a big stretch without food . . . maybe a piece of string cheese or a few almonds half way through could be an option?
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Smurfette: I can button them, but then I can't breathe! They're summer pants, so I better get in them soon!
@Adira: I wore my maternity stuff way past pregnancy as well, I think I finally retired the last stuff when my son was over a year old!
I had an egg white omelet on a whole wheat wrap. I had it with a slice of American cheese but in all honesty, I could have done without it. I also had a banana and now I can't stop thinking about lunch. Gotta research the menu!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MsLipGloss: Yeah, I really should bring myself a snack for the morning. I didn't realize how long I go between breakfast and lunch, but it's a long stretch!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: girl you need a snack!! Better for you that way.
@MsLipGloss: That is why I don't grill. My Mom taught me well, that his domain and he can do the cooking that night. I do dishes so I think it is fair. Of course I try and pick veggies for him to grill that night too and I have never mowed either and that I for sure plan to keep that way.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@looch: That makes me feel better!! I'm hoping I'll be in regular pants before my son is a year, but now I won't feel so bad if it takes me that long!
@Smurfette: I brought a couple snacks... but they're to get me through the afternoon... eek.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MsLipGloss: @Smurfette: I've operated a lawnmower!!! Hubs and I actually split our lawn in half and we each mow half of it every week. It's the only exercise I get, haha.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Okay, I didn't make it. I had my lunch early! But I do have a couple snacks for the afternoon that should tide me over until dinner time!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I don't think it's uncommon for the women to not grill! I lived alone while DH was deployed so I figured it out one summer whoever needs a shower in our house grills because you stink after grilling! Plus the house doesn't smell like food after.
I snack on jerky, fruit, and nuts. Sometimes boiled eggs or deviled eggs. Honestly, I haven't felt like snacking since going paleo (@mslipgloss! where's my paleo buddy lol) I'm satisfied all the time! And I've lost at least 5 lbs in my first week (still drinking wine every night).
