Ok, healthy mamas. I just made these chocolate "truffle" bites and wanted to share the recipe: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2012/02/08/german-chocolate-fudge-bites/

I usually am wary of the "healthy desserts," but these are pretty tasty!

@aprk: Do you think they would be good without the coconut? Not a fan. How many points are they?

Celery is not a yummy or filling snack. I did avoid the huge trays of donuts they had at day care this morning for the Dads. They told me I could have DH's since he doesn't come to day care.

@Smurfette: I think they would. There's not a lot and it's just a hint of flavor. Might not be as sweet though? Good job on the donut avoidance!

@aprk, those remind me of a similar snack I've made! They have dates, unsweetened coconut flakes, macadamia nuts, and blueberries. They're sweet (not too sweet) but more like little protein power balls. They're on my to-make list (sans blueberries because they make them go bad faster and they get kind of mushy) whenever I can get around to it.

SO.....I've been watching what I eat since June 1 and eating paleo/primal since June 7. I weighed in today and I'm down 8 pounds! 5 of those were in the last week!!!

I *do* think i'm going to have to give in and buy a pair of jeans one-size-up. The maternity ones are sagging and my regular ones are just way too disgustingly tight (and i don't want to stretch them out real bad because they're my favorite designer jeans....i only own two pairs of jeans, lol. My height makes it tough). I think I'll try Gap. I really liked their maternity jeans. I wear jeans to work SO MUCH...I don't think i can avoid not buying a pair.

@blackbird: That's awesome! I swear, paleo is a total game-changer! I am skinny as hell, or at least the thinnest I've ever been, all bc of paleo:) You'll be in those designer jeans in no time at all! Is there any way you can just wear leggings or something until then, to avoid buying the jeans? Or even jeggings?

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@princessbaby-nah, I work in manufacturing so I need sturdier jeans. I made a thread about it and I'm gonna buy some cheap old navy ones for now! Can't beat $17! I knew paleo would work and I really thought it'd be harder and I would crave carbs and junk more. I'm surprised that I don't!!!

    Thanks ladies!

So.... even though I ate crap Friday-Sunday, supposedly I've lost 3 lbs! I think my scale might be a big fat liar though, so I'm holding off on celebrating until next week to see if the weight stays off.

Gah, i missed weigh in this weekend because of our move. Just didnt have the time to get to the store for it. I might go tonight or just weigh myself at home. I hope I had a loss or at least maintained.

@looch: Just look at this way, this week you will have a really good loss!

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, I'm just not sure I believe it. I feel like I ate pretty poorly over the weekend. Plus I'll probably be up next week because I have a bachelorette party this weekend. Oh well!

@Smurfette: avoiding donuts is a huge accomplishment!! Free food is almost impossible for me to resist!! I'm impressed

    @blackbird: good job!!!! That's awesome

@Adira: wohoo!!!! I hope your scale isn't lying

    @looch: fingers crossed for you!

I'm down a total of 5.6 pounds in two weeks. I feel really good! I'm noticing a huge difference in my stomach already. Now if my wedding rings would just fit...

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@sslm: That's awesome!!! It's great that you can see a difference too - that's always the best indication! And I hear you on the wedding rings. Mine just BARELY fit and if I have to take them off for any reason, I have to break out the soap!

Just started eating paleo/primal today and I'm dying for some ice cream. Of course today had to be a particularly difficult day and while I would usually "reward" myself with a treat, I can't do that anymore! Ugh.

You ladies are inspiring though! I hope to join you with some significant results

@blackbird: I'm still here . . . although my recent birthday (and several work functions) set me back! I am just so over feeling like crap and am making small changes that will hopefully pay off soon! Today has been pretty great though . . .

ETA: And what is this no craving thing of which you speak?! The second I know something is off limits, my cravings increase dramatically for it!

  21. Smurfette

@petunia354: I wanted a milkshake and ice cream all weekend, but I save my points for wine and beer instead.

I lost 2.6 lbs in my first week on WW. Back to my pre-pregnancy weight. But sadly the skirt I am wearing today is tight when it use to be loose. But at least I can wear it!!

  24. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Woo! Congratulations on being back to pre-preg weight!!! I still have a WAYS to go before I'm there. I'm not surprised about the fit though - I hear that's pretty common. But I'm impressed you're in it! I'm still wearing maternity clothes.

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Well I thought that I would try it. I only have one pair of work pants that fit, otherwise I am wearing maternity too. But they are starting to get too baggy on me. In that awkward in between stage.

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: What kind of skirt is it? Is it a pencil skirt? I have a bunch of those but I can't fit into any of them yet! The one skirt I can wear is more like sweat pant material. It's wicked comfy, but not as classy.

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Not a pencil. It had a thick band at the waist and then flares out. I love my knit cotton skirts for the weekends.

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Sounds cute! I need more skirts like that! I like the pencil skirts, but they are hard to pull off when I've gained weight. They aren't forgiving AT ALL.

  29. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Smurfette: Congrats! What an awesome accomplishment!

@Adira: Yeah, I am still wearing pencil skirts *2* sizes bigger than my regular size (I am wearing an 8, but I usually wear a 4). BUT, I think it is better to wear closer-fitting clothes instead of trying to hide your body . . . I think that makes you look heavier than you really are!

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MsLipGloss: Soooo true! I've just been avoiding the pencil skirts for now, haha. I probably should buy some clothes that actually fit instead of continuing to wear my maternity clothes...

  31. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Adira: I bought 2 pencil skirts the same style in different sizes so as I lose weight, I just transition to the next smaller skirt, but no one can tell because it is the same skirt.

I also forgot to add that I am nowhere near my pre-pg weight . . . I am hoping I am still able to wear my clothes when I hit my goal weight! *fingerscrossed*

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MsLipGloss: haha, that's smart! I should do that! Although I'm cheap, so I probably won't. And I hope you're able to wear your clothes when you hit your goal weight too!!

  33. looch

    wonderful pear / 26210 posts

@Adira: @MsLipGloss: would you ladies believe I put on a pencil skirt in a size 8 this morning and it fit? I was stunned. I couldn't however, find a top to go with it, so back into the closet it went.

I have clothes in at least 3 sizes right now, I've gotten rid of the 4's, I just don't think I can ever get back there again.

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@looch: haha, that's too funny! Congrats on fitting into a size 8 pencil skirt though! That's impressive!

  35. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@looch: Woot Woot! That's a great way to kick off a Wednesday . . . or any day for that matter! It also sounds like you are due for little shopping!

I am still holding out hope for my 4s . . . at my maintainable tiniest, I can wear 2s (right around 128-130--I am 5'7" and some change), but I think 135 is a good, realistic, won't-have-to-kill-myself-to-maintain goal for me, which would put me comfortably in most of my clothes (with maybe a couple of exceptions) . . . I HOPE.

  36. looch

    wonderful pear / 26210 posts

@Adira: I was stunned. I did need some shapewear though, I still have a belly buldge. I am a classic pear shape, so I've def. lost an inch or two in the thigh area.

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@looch: Oh my gosh, I'm a pear too. But that's awesome you've lost some inches in the thigh area! I need to lose some there too. And in the stomach area. And the arms...

  38. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@looch: All due to paleo? I am having such a tough time . . . I really need to just mentally embrace it and go with it! I just stumble every couple of days and then dread having to re-start again. *sigh*

  39. looch

    wonderful pear / 26210 posts

@MsLipGloss: weight watchers, and some paleo, I am trying to address grains at the moment, namely pasta and bread.

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@looch: Awesome!! An 8 is my dream goal. And I agree with @MsLipGloss: sounds like you need to go shopping!

@Adira: @looch: I am a pear too. My thighs and hips need MAJOR help. I am trying to cut down on carbs too but I just love them!
