@Smurfette: Carbs are my arch-nemesis! So bad for me but soooooo delicious!!! I can't seem to quit them!

I have to go cold turkey quitting with carbs, it's all or nothing for me in that respect. Once I start with a piece of bread, it's like I can't control the desire for potatoes, rice, pasta, cake, cookies, etc.

I find I do better if I cut them totally out but where I struggle is that pasta is always around, my son loves it and would eat it for every meal if I let him.

I have to say, I am not focused on a size goal, but more a weight number goal, not sure if that's helping or hurting my efforts. I know I will never be the weight I was at my wedding (maybe, but the maintenance would kill me) but I'd be happy 5 pounds or so above that. Who knows how I will feel once I get closer to that number though. Full disclosure, my goal weight is 140.

@mslipgloss, maybe I have no cravings because I'm nomming so much bacon

@blackbird: bacon with organic super dark chocolate is paleo, right?

Sounds like everyone is doing so great! I was going to try and get on board with myfitnesspal but I haven't had much motivation to actually do anything. I have been snacking less and trying to eat healthier and have noticed a 2 lb loss - nothing drastic but at least I'm moving in the right direction.

I am curious about paleo since it sounds many people have a lot of success with it - I don't know if it would work for me though since the only real animal protein that I eat is fish and I think I would really miss the carbs...

Can I share a success this morning? I try not to focus on numbers, but I hit 151 this morning! That is a new low for me on this weight loss journey

    Proud of all of us!

@dojo: I would take a 2lb loss! You are definitely moving in the right direction.

@dojo: 2lb is great especially if you aren't really dieting and just eating better. I still snack way to much. I am just hungry all the time because of nursing.

  12. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Smurfette: BFing + work anxiety = nervous snacking for me. I know, as I have always done, once I have a successful week I do great with staying on track! It's just the first few days/week that I have a tough time with.

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@MsLipGloss: I am usually better during the first couple weeks. Then a month later I am bored with eating good and I just want junk!

  14. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@mslipgloss, technically, yes, LOL. I've been eating bacon wrapped dates a lot lately for a sweeter treat. A website called them MEAT CANDY. nom nom nom.

@lovelyplum, CONGRATS! That is so awesome!

I'm also worried about snacking when I go back to work. I get hungry far more often at work than I do at home! I don't mindless snack...I get legitimately hungry! The problem is that, at home, even if I'm hungry, I don't always eat right away. But at work, it's instant gratification.

    @MsLipGloss: @Smurfette: @dojo: @Adira: @blackbird: thank you

@blackbird: I snack All. Day. Long. I try to keep it healthy, though.I started packing bento-like lunches, so I could eat all day without feeling guilty.

@looch: This may sound funny, but when I am cutting carbs (at least all carbs but fruits and veggies, 1/2 a tablespoon of salt really helps to take the edge off cravings. I don't know why, but it works (at least for me).

@MsLipGloss: thanks for the tip, i will have to try it!

I lost 3.6 pounds these last two weeks, which puts me just 0.8 pounds away from my first goal of 5% loss. I have found that my family is really supportive, which helps (my family, dad especially, shows his love with food, so I've had to ask him not to offer me anything more than I am eating and he's obliged, which makes it a lot easier).

I've got my inlaws coming for two weeks in July, I have to make an effort not to fall off the wagon while they are here.

@looch: Congrats! I really like your idea of breaking down your goal into percentage of body weight lost! A five percent body weight loss is so much more manageable (in mah head!) than my overall goal!

So I'm back up this week, but only be 0.4 lbs and I was at a bachelorette party, so it totally makes sense. Guess I really DID lose those 3 lbs last week! Time to go back on the diet!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: That is awesome for being at a bachelorette party. Good job! I weigh in tomorrow.

They had Oreo cake at work today. I resisted the mounts of fluffy frosting, vanilla cake, and big old Oreo right on top.

I am sure that my apple is way tastier for a snack.

  24. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Adira: I want to second @Smurfette's congrats! Excellent work lady!

@Smurfette: Oh-em-geee . . . just reading what you described made my mouth water. Awesome job sticking to your plan! I had an apple for a snack today too . . . totally tasty!

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, you are too good. I just finished eating a Twix bar, haha. You're going to feel sooooo good about yourself after eating the apple though! Good for you staying strong!

  28. Adira

@Smurfette: Ooops! That happens to me all the time. Just weigh yourself tomorrow (or wait until next week for an even bigger loss!).

  29. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yeah I am going to do it tomorrow. I just need to take the scale out tonight. I am too tired in the mornings to think.

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I hear you on being tired! I think all this getting up at 5:00 a.m. (or earlier) is finally catching up with me. I fell asleep on the couch last night at 8:30! Hubs had to wake me to go feed Xander.

@smurfette, tell yourself the cake would've made you feel icky! I know that when I eat healthy, junk makes me feel super shitty!

I started back at crossfit and holy shit am I hurting. I think I'm going to jump on the protein shake supplementation bandwagon to help me recover faster, build back lean muscle, and burn off this extra chub.

I'm also ordering a case of no carb no sugar energy drinks (the XS ones-they only have 80 mg of caffeine versus 200+ like the monsters) because I imagine I will be beat when I go back to work

@adira, 830 is an acceptable bedtime when you get up at 5
