Hey guys! I'm in. I've been running or doing some type of activity every day. I started replacing breakfast or lunch with a green smoothie, I'm trying to only include whole grains in one meal a day and then I make a paleo dinner.

I lost 3 pounds this past week.

    @cascademom: Congrats on your loss!

@HLK208: Happy to have you. Congrats on your loss too!

Gah - all you *cough*overachievers!*cough* are really encouraging! Makes me want to stay on the wagon way more than I want off! Well, that, and the small fortune I have invested in jeans!

On that note, I'm going to spend my pumping session this afternoon pinning more inspiration to my (private) fitness/get your bootay back in shape Pinterest board.

@MsLipGloss: Thanks! This thread is helping me keep to my goals despite buying two bags of delicious chocolate mint marshmallows and Crunch bars yesterday. At least I have 49 weekly points to play with, so if I indulge, it won't be so bad.

@cascademom: Woohoo!! That's great loss!! And I think as long as you're consistent about when and how you weigh yourself (in the morning before you eat, for example), then the overall trend will be accurate, even if the actual number is a little off.

@Adira: @Smurfette: Thanks. I try to stick to the same weighing time in the morning on Tuesdays. The trend is right for WW with 2 lbs per week or so in the beginning.

    @Adira: woohoo!!

I am depressed. I weighed myself this morning and it said I gained 3lbs! What??!!???? I didn't have that much gain in a week while pregnant. I know that I wasn't great over the weekend and didn't track my points, but 3lbs. Not like I ate horrible all the time. I don't know what happened.

  12. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: 3 lbs sounds like a fluke! Try not to dwell on it - I bet your scale is just being wonky or you've got a bunch of water weight at the moment. Hopefully next week, you'll be down 3 lbs and then some!

@Smurfette: I agree with @Adira and @SSLM, it sounds more like you are holding extra water (from salt intake), and that the 3 pounds is not a *real* gain. (((hugs)))

@Adira: I loved my maternity jeans. They were insanely comfortable. At first I was sad to go back to regular jeans and shorts, but now my goal is to fit into stuff and not have a massive gut from too much food, stress, etc.

@cascademom: I hear that! I have to do some major sucking in in these pants. I'd love to be able to just wear them and not fear the serious muffin top I've got going on!

  22. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

    @Mrs. Blue: @cascademom: @Adira:

Let me start by saying please read all the way through this before you decide to hate me . . . .

I don't have muffin top . . . even though I am not happy with the state of my mid-section (because it is bigger and not as flat as it was pre-pg), my tummy is actually quite flat and I have regained some of my previous definition . . . the rest will be nicely concealed by a layer of fat until I stop eating crap and start burning it off. I digress . . . )

HOWEVER, what I *do* have are two thighs annnnnd a badonkadonk(!) that have DOUBLED in size (and that, my friends, is no dramatic exaggeration) . . . making pants of any kind nothing short of a complete nightmare! I can wear my size 8 skirt, but can barely squeeze into my size 10 jeans (and I can't when I am even slightly bloated). I cry every time I try. Yes, I am a grown ass woman who cries because her jeans don't fit. Pathetic, but true!

I used to wear size 4s (pants) comfortably . . . I was 135 pre-pg (I am just over 5'7"), and *still* have 25 pounds to go. And I'm 10 months pp folks! I am devastated, humiliated . . . and I feel like the task at hand is so daunting and not doable! *gah*

It's just one of those days, yanno? People are super polite and tell me I look great (I can hide it pretty well in dresses/skirts because, well, my thighs aren't clearly outlined for all to see!), but I'm not *me* and I miss *me*.

ETA: My pregnancy was difficult, my delivery was horrendous, and sometimes I think (in the midst of a pity party), WTF isn't ANY of this easy?! I mean, am I any less deserving of a happy/easy outcome?! Why can't I be one of the lucky ladies who has weight fall off of them while they are BFing? Because BF didn't do a damn thing for me . . . /EndPityParty

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MsLipGloss: Girl, I got bad news for you... you may never get your thighs back. Obviously I don't REALLY know, but I've heard that pregnancy can cause your thighs to widen permanently, which might be the case for you. I ALSO have thunder thighs and a big booty, though I've always had those, so it's nothing new for me. I know exactly what you mean though about pants not fitting because they won't stretch over the thighs (or if they do, you look TERRIBLE).

Just wanted to say, I feel your pain and wish I had some advice. I'm in the same boat with the thighs and booty, but I ALSO have the muffin top too. You may just have to resign yourself to being pear-shaped now. *hug*

ETA: BFing hasn't done a damn thing for me either. If anything, it's made my already lopsided boobs more lopsided. Although they ARE bigger... so I guess that's a plus. No weight loss though!

  24. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@MsLipGloss: I feel your pain. My bad areas are my stomach, arms, and thighs. I'm 5' 9" and weigh 214. I got pregnant at 190 or so. I hated when I went over 200 lbs. I lost most of it postpartum, then gained it back with stress of work, life, everything. I'm hoping to lose it and be comfortable with where I'm at. For me, size 10 or 12 would be a dream with no belly and flabby arms.

  25. looch

    wonderful pear / 26210 posts

@MsLipGloss: girlfriend, you and I are the same age, so part of it could be age/hormones and yeah, you might never get back to where you were. I am 5'4" and I currently weigh about 152 pounds, putting me in size 10s. We just moved and I swear I pulled things out of storage that were size 4 and 6 and I just put them in a bag and donated them. I also had shoes size 7 that will no way in heck fit me again.
But you know what, I am okay with it. I might never be wearing a string bikini again, but I am fine with getting to a size 8 again.

@mrs.lipgloss, no hatin' just b/c your stomach isn't your #1 point of contention! Everyone's got something they want to work on. Sometimes it's just different for other people.

@MsLipGloss: I know exactly what you mean about not feeling like "me" - I am only 4.5 months pp so I know it may be awhile but it is so hard sometimes to come to terms with the fact that my clothes just don't fit. I was so excited to watch the lbs melt away with BFing because that is what EVERYONE told me... but that certainly has not happened at all.

Checking in! I'll be 6 weeks PP on Saturday and am slowly getting started. I lost 4 pounds in the last week after not losing anything since 2 weeks PP, but it was random because I haven't done anything different! 33 lbs to go. I put a Zumba DVD in and of course LO woke up before I could even press play lol. Getting a workout in several days a week will be my biggest challenge!

@HLK208: you are my hero! I need some of your motivation and discipline!

I've been trying for the past month and have only lost 4lbs total. I have 3 more to go to hit my goal weight but those last few pounds are so tough! I'm trying to lose the weight for our family photos at the end of the month.

I'm going to force myself up earlier than usual to get some workout in the morning. I'll check in here to keep myself accountable.

@sandy: ahhh, I came to this thread to say "I really just want to eat a lot today" lol. Not sure why? I'm super hungry even though I have eaten enough. Ugh. Going on a long run to distract myself from the kitchen.

@sandy: and way to go! The last few pounds are so stubborn. I'm going to switch up my work-out routine to see if weight will come off faster so along with a run, I'm doing 30DS tonight.

@dojo: @looch: @cascademom: @Adira: UPDATE: Hoookay, so I went home after work and decided to try those stooopid jeans one more time . . . only, instead of the 10's, apparently I grabbed the 8's . . . AND THEY FIT! Now, don't get me wrong, they were snug, but they were buttoned (they are button-fly Lucky jeans), and I could bend and sit in them (although probably not for any length of time, lol!) . . . I am stoked! THERE IS HOPE PRAISE JEEEEBUS! ;P

@HLK208: thanks! can you please share your green smoothie recipe when you get a chance? I would love to get more veggies in during the day. it is seriously hard to keep up the healthy eating and stay motivated with the work outs! With the nice weather we've been having I just want to eat ice cream all day every day...

@MsLipGloss: YAY! It's the best feeling when clothes start fitting again :). I try to not focus too much on the scale bc inches are what matter most. I'm too cheap to buy new clothes so I force myself to workout and eat better until they fit again

@MsLipGloss: Woo hoo! Get it lady!!!

I need to just break down and buy some new pants for work. I am sick of maternity. But all my work pants are 10's and don't fit my thighs and hips now.

@Smurfette: Buying larger sized pants literally made my heart hurt. Apparently not enough to make me lose weight and fit into my smaller jeans though, ha! It's amazing how much my hips & thighs grew and I didn't even notice because my big belly was front and center

It's so nice to have somewhere to go and talk with other ladies who didn't immediately lose ALL of the weight gained during pregnancy within like, 5 seconds of giving birth. I get SO down and depressed when I see bees talking about how they lost all of the weight within 6 or 8 weeks postpartum because that is so NOT the case for me. I mean, that's awesome for them but I'm just downright jealous! I gained 36, lost 20 within 2 weeks and then at 6 months pp I have only lost an additional 3 by eating *mostly* paleo.

@MsLipGloss: "My pregnancy was difficult, my delivery was horrendous, and sometimes I think (in the midst of a pity party), WTF isn't ANY of this easy?! I mean, am I any less deserving of a happy/easy outcome?! Why can't I be one of the lucky ladies who has weight fall off of them while they are BFing? Because BF didn't do a damn thing for me . . . /EndPityParty" --> EXACTLY! I feel like I should get a medal for getting through 11 weeks of bed rest, spending 3 weeks in the NICU and then just keeping this tiny human alive for the past 6 months. Why can't I just lose the weight effortlessly like (what seems like) every other mom I know?!

Anyhow, I've been following you girls and your losses have been motivating to me, just wanted you to know your hard work isn't going unnoticed!!

  39. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@sandy: lol! I ran 3 miles today which luckily made me lose the "I want to eat everything in the fridge and pantry" feeling

Who are you using for family photos? I want to find a good local photographer in the Seattle area (our last was terrible).

So my favorite green smoothie is: 2 handfuls of spinach, 3 tablespoons non-fat yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, a ripe banana, a handful of blueberries, 1/4 cup water and a glass of ice.

They are addicting! It's my favorite part of the day. I'm so bad at eating salad daily because the healthy balsamic/olive oil combination gets old. I like salad covered in unhealthy crap
