@HLK208: we are using Jessica Hamlin...love her! She's down to earth and easy going. She was the least expensive newborn photographer I found that still had the kind of photos I liked. She runs specials twice a year (called bitty sessions) and they sell out within days of her posting it...I subscribe to her email list to get notices for her specials. Here's her website http://jessicahamlinphotography.com/

I'm going to try the smoothies for lunch!

My favorite salad is pasta salad...but balsamic vinaigrette is my stand by right now too

@petunia354: It totally sucks. But it is depressing wearing maternity still. I have one pair of work pants that fit me. I have lost all my weight but everything shifted so now I have to lose even more so I can fit in my clothes. It is depressing.

I really need to figure out how to work out now. I can't go to the gym at night since DH is traveling no one to watch R. I guess I need to just start doing videos at home. I just hate working out later at night, cause then I have trouble sleeping. But my thighs have to stop being so flabby.

@HLK208: welcome!!! 3 lbs is awesome!!!!

Hey ladies! Checking in to join this thread! I loved reading about everyone's progress. keep up the good work!

I am 6 weeks PP with 20 lbs to lose to get to my ideal weight. I can't do WW at the moment, but I am starting small with eating cleaner and exercising (lightly, for now!--when I go back to work, I highly doubt I will have time to fit any exercise in, unfortunately! ). Hopefully with BF this will do the trick to get my weight loss going.

@petunia354: I hear you! Can I just also say that I don't think people disclose *all* of the relevant facts when they talk about losing all of their pg weight, i.e., like, whether they were overweight pre-pg . . . because where you started out really matters! Not that that is any of my business, but I feel like without all of the relevant data, the data that is presented creates a warped sense of reality . . . and for those of us who struggle, well, it just makes it feel that much more depressing. Sort of like when someone posts that they only gained 25 pounds while pg, but they don't disclose that they were already some number of pounds overweight before they got pg . . . So, I write all this to say that I always try to tell myself that (1) I don't know what I don't know, and (2) that comparison is the thief of joy . . . and that if I allow myself to compare (apples to oranges, really) my experiences with someone else's that I may end up losing some of the joy that I have with regard to my baby girl . . . and my life, for that matter.

@MsLipGloss: word! just like people don't disclose ALL the facts about STTN. But I expect 1/3 of people to "fudge" the truth, I am a natural skeptic!

I feel so far behind in this thread, but welcome to everyone that's joining in! The more support the better!

@MsLipGloss: thanks! I did the elliptical for 20 minutes...nothing huge but a start in the right direction. I did not help that I met up with a friend for a drink after we put our LOs to bed last night, but I forced myself out of bed. Tomorrow I'll try to go at least 25 minutes

Also, I totally agree that you never know what people are leaving out and choosing to disclose... I'm coming to realize this more and more as I get older...

@HLK208: @dojo: That's how my shorts feel from last year. I can't get into those, so jeans for me this summer. It makes me miss my maternity shorts.

I did manage to fit into some size L skirts I bought for the summer, but my belly is still present. At least they fit!

In a small win for today, I resisted a donut after a stressful/frustrating/upsetting morning with my DH.

@Mslipgloss, haha, YES! I've had people comment to me that I don't look like i've had a baby BUT i always tell them, "i went to the gym 6 days a week starting at 6 weeks PP, i've been eating paleo, and i've been crossfitting it up. It ain't luck". I could easily be like, "oh wow, thanks!!!!!" and leave out the *vital information*. But I like to fully disclose that getting the jeans back on (hopefully soon!) is HARD WORK. And well worth it

Also? I turned down cake two days in a row. Le sigh. (full disclosure, I had a margarita instead yesterday, lol. I told myself I could have ONE, not both).

    persimmon / 1223 posts

@cascademom: Good for you on resisting the donut! haha I actually grabbed one this morning but I haven't eaten it yet.. maybe I'll only do half

ok - so for those of you who work outside the home how on earth do you fit in time to work out?! I feel like the small slice of time I have in the evening I need to spend first of all getting LO to bed then prepping things for the next day, laundry or other chores and actually eating dinner myself (haha maybe if I skipped the eating dinner I wouldn't have to worry about it - I'm kidding of course)

  21. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@cascademom: thanks! good job resisting! I had a dream about donuts the other night lol.
@sandy: thanks! I have so much weight to go...15 pounds until I'm down to my second pre-preg weight and then another 12 after that until I'm down to my first pre-preg weight. It helps me to look at it in increments rather than 27 pounds!

  22. MsLipGloss

@blackbird: Hahaha! Yeah, I have had several ladies come up to me at work, touch my belly and/or put their hands around my waist and talk about how lucky I was to *get my figure back* and that you would never know I had a baby . . . I feel the same way, i.e., there's no *luck* to it! I worked uber hard pre-pg to take care of myself, and even if it's not back to where it was, I like to believe that some of it is my previous hard work hanging on for dear life!

@dojo: I need to know this too. I already get up at 5:00 a.m. and have no time. I have no idea how people find time.

The only thought I had was maybe going to the gym AFTER Xander's gone to bed for the night. Usually that's when Hubs and I have dinner, but I'd like to start having dinner earlier so we can have family dinners with Xander when he starts solids. But I can't really imagine wanting to spend what little free time I have at the gym so...

    @cascademom: *high five*

@HLK208: It should not be possible to be visually assaulted with vision of donuts dancing in your head while you sleep! Talk about *no rest* for the weary!

@dojo: So, there is a gym at my office. I tried to use it during lunch when I was still pumping 3 times a day, and it was just too big a strain on my time at work (I bill every 6 minutes of my time, so, while I don't have to be at work for a specific amount of time, I have to bill a certain number of hours, and I can't bill for everything I do), so it was really really hard! Also, LO was not even close to STTN, so, that lasted about 2 weeks before I just totally crashed and gave up.

Now that LO is (more or less) STTN (which to me means at least a 6-7 hour stretch), I am able to sneak in a workout at the end of the day . . . when I am super tired and just want to relax. *sigh* There is a gym super close to our house, but that means I would have to leave, soooo . . . DH and I bought an elliptical trainer for the house (it was just delivered this week!), so that I can at least go downstairs and hop on it for a good bit to at least maintain some kind of aerobic fitness! I also have a lot of home gym stuff like kettle bells and resistance bands that I can use, too.

  26. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Adira: I would *love* to workout in the morning . . . but LO usually wakes anytime between 4 and 5:30, and because I still BF her in the mornings, I can't squeeze in a workout there.

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MsLipGloss: Yeah, same here. I mean, I guess I COULD get up at 4:30 to squeeze in a workout (if I don't go to the gym to do it), but working out with full boobs sounds really unpleasant!

Ready to join! 11 weeks postpartum with 10 lbs to go (gained 40). I eat pretty healthy, but am having trouble figuring out how to exercise. My husband works really long hours, and its been super hot here! It's a little cooler today so we will go for a walk this afternoon. I really miss running. I went once at 7 weeks postpartum and it was super hard- very discouraging. Once babe is old enough for the bob I'm going to start getting back into it.

You are all very inspiring! Keep up the good work!

@dojo: I wish I knew. I can't get up in the morning to work out. Never been able to do it. I can't go at night cause that is the only time with R. If DH is home I could then go to the gym, but then that puts me at 830 to eat dinner. I have to find something to do though.

  30. dojo

    persimmon / 1223 posts

HLK208: I like your idea to look at it in increments rather than the full amount to lose - 15 lbs as an initial goal is much better sounding to me than 25. Sounds like we have similar goals!

@Adira: Exactly! Of course if I was really motivated I would get up early at 4:30 and work out or stay up later or something - but I'm already up around 5 or 5:30 and then once I'm home I have about hour with Liam then it's getting him to bed - then I have a few hours before I really need to be asleep but somehow those three hours pass in a matter of minutes. On paper it seems like I should have plenty of time to squeeze in a workout (especially since we have a treadmill, pilates machine, and dvds at home)

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@dojo: I hear you! My solution currently is to just not work out.

  32. dojo

    persimmon / 1223 posts

@Adira: haha I have the same solution!

@Smurfette: I keep thinking the same thing - I have to do something - but then I just don't really know how to make it work - I've been able to jump on the treadmill a handful of times but nothing consistent and like you said that ends with me eating dinner around 8:30 or 9:00

@bisous: welcome!! Nursing should help, along with eating healthy I'm sure you'll see a difference

@sandy: wow, that's amazing. I don't do morning workouts. I blame years of rowing. I've maxed out my lifetime limit of morning workouts

    @HLK208: 1.5! Yay! That's awesome!

@Silva: welcome and good luck I've only been walking for exercise, it's working well so far. I hear ya on the heat though, it's been screwing up my walks for sure, can't take M out in that!!!

So I weighed in this morning and on my 2 week vacation I LOST 5.4 pounds. What the what??? I'm ecstatic! At the same time, I think it's a bit too much, I don't want to mess up my supply so I'm hoping to cap my loss at 2 lbs/week. I'm going to add some higher fat snacks, like full fat yogurt and cheese. What a "problem" to have... I feel awesome!!

@sslm: That is AWESOME! Way to go!

I still haven't gotten a new battery for my scale. I bought one yesterday, but it's the wrong size, so I need to exchange it for the correct one. So, it's kind of annoying not to know what I started the week at since I've been eating (mostly) paleo.

Most exciting news of all: I'm heading back to the gym tomorrow! I'm scared to DEATH because Saturday is always hardcore conditioning day at my gym, but I'll just do what I can. I've also joined a once weekly mom and baby crossfit class that starts next week. My plan at the moment is to do two classes/week at my gym plus the mom and baby class, which is at a different facility. Super pumped!
