This is *such* a bummer. I've been careful about not doing situps or anything but it happened anyway - the top of my abdominal muscles have separated. At my 26 week appt today my midwife said I cannot lift ANY weights at all for the rest of my pregnancy and NO abdominal work whatsoever, not even planks. I understand this is not bedrest, but I was not expecting this.
I'm reading online about how long it takes to heal - if ever - and am trying not to freak out.
I don't know if I did this to myself or if it's just from being fit before pregnancy (she said it happens a lot to women with strong abs where they don't loosen up enough as the uterus grows), but the bottom line is it happened and I have to not make it worse, at risk of getting a hernia or not be able to push during labor.
I'm trying not to freak out but this was not the only less-than-stellar news I got at this appointment.
Anyone been through this?
