What have you been doing this year to keep your toddler busy during the winter months? It's too cold here to go outside for walks or to the park, and we live in a tiny town where there aren't many indoor activities (unless you count grocery shopping - ha). I WFH so we're both in the house A LOT and I feel awful that DD (21 months) isn't getting to go out and experience anything except on the weekends. We go to the grocery store a few times per week and I try to take her window shopping just so we're out of the house, but we're going crazy!

What about the library? Do you have a mall? At that age my LO would enjoy just walking around and seeing people!

We have been in all week and I am going crazy.

We spent a good chunk of time at the library yesterday. She can play, look at books, the iPads and run around a bit. M also loves certain stores so she's happy to go to Target, Trader Joe's or Barnes and Noble where she can also play and we get a special snack at the cafe.
Do you have any indoor playspaces where you can do a drop-in class?

@regberadaisy: No mall here (we have to drive about 45 mins, which we do almost every weekend) and our library is very, very, very small.

We basically live in the worst town ever lol. We're looking to move in the fall to a city with many more amenities though. About once a week we drive there and she loves our Target and B&N trips!

We were going stir crazy last weekend so we all bundled up and went to the playground for about 30 minutes. It did wonders for all of us. Is that an option for you? I don't know what your "too cold" is (it was about 40F when we went).

I dont know where you guys are so this might not work. But I would bundle up and head out, even if it's for just 15 minutes. It makes a world of difference. My LO is still crawling at 10.5 months so that makes outside a little harder when it's cold and wet. But when I baby sat we were outside everyday all NYC winter long. I know there are places much colder. I found the kids (2 and 4) were fine and I was the one who was freezing....

We just bundle up. Playdates at friends' houses or even having little friends over to your house helps! We do playdates at least once per week.
I think it was Mrs. Bunny that posted on the blog about their outings in her small town where there aren't a lot of activities. Like they go to the pet store as their "aquarium"!

Go outside! It's not as easy as it is in the summer, but so worth it. We went for a walk today and it was 16 degrees. With some base layers (like cuddle duds, you can get them cheap at places like Walmart), a thicker mid layer like fleece, and a wind/waterproof outer layer, plus hats/mittens/wool socks/boots, you should be pretty good at 32F! It's so worth it to let them burn off energy, get fresh air, avoid germy places, see the sunlight, see what the world looks like in winter. Winter goes by a lot faster if you don't try to avoid it! Take it from a former winter hater.

We have a small town with limited options too. But there is a pool so this week alone I've taken him twice! We are going nuts too.
