I swear, this was the #1 reason that names got dropped during the naming process!

Yes, did you find this more the case for girl names compared to boy names? I swear there are more annoying girls out there!

haha, my husband is trying to veto the name I like because he knows someone annoying with the name, but I keep insisting that the spelling is different, so it's okay, haha.

I really liked the name "Chloe" but that's the name of my BIL's ex-gf and it was a terrible breakup and I didn't dare ask him how he felt about using that name for his niece!

There were a few names that we both ruled out ahead of time, mostly due to negative connections, but ours were mostly guys names from people we'd worked with, not date.

I love love love the name Charles (Charlie)! But, this other attorney I have a case with is the world's biggest A-hole and has made my life hell for the past 9 months...and his name is Charles. I don't think I could get over that : (

This is such a hilarious thread. I don't think I came across names that I disliked because it reminded me of someone annoying, but I'm sure if I had I would've dropped it in no time.

Yes, yes, yes! It's the number 1 reason we veto names when we have future baby name discussions.

My mom is a teacher, and it seems like she has had an annoying student with every name in the book. So we won't be bouncing name ideas off of her

This is a minor concern for us. Most of my friends have quite common names that I'm not really interested in using, or growing up there were already two to three of them (the whole Kelly C., Kelly H., and Kelly S. phenomenon) so there was no way I was going to add ANOTHER of them to the mix. The only one that sticks out to me is the name of my only major pre-husband "relationship" (unrequited love/bizarro friendship) who shares a name with quite possibly the biggest jerk I ever met in college, who ended up divorcing his adorable wife just a year after the wedding. So that name, which I like otherwise, is out.

Other than popularity, that is the biggest reason I don't like certain names. There are some people you just don't want to associate with your child.

Yes! There are several names I really like that I could never name a child because either
1) I know someone annoying with that name
2) Someone in my family who is still living has that name, so it would be confusing.

This is extremely difficult for us. We like a lot of names that we see as normal like David, John, Greg, Thomas, Christopher and Adam. Unfortunately half of those names are names of people who annoy us and the other half are names in my family. This whole looking at names process is making me realize just how many boys we have in our family!!

I like the name Cruz but Jovani's dad threw that out real quick because his high school enemy was named Cruz.

I was just talking about this with my coworkers, I teach so I associate names with kids I've taught, I've scratched so many names off the list b/c they remind me of former students who drove me crazy

Yes!!! I'm a teacher and I've been vetoing names that Hubby comes up with. Also, Hubby has weird name ideas, so I've vetoed those too.
