We are in the middle of buying our first home, and I am very excited but I am feeling pretty nervous too. I'm just curious if others felt nervous when buying a home too, and if so, why? I can't really pinpoint why I am feeling this way, because we are really excited!

I was nervous.... Its a huge commitment and we did it pretty spontaneously so I wasn't 100% about our financial situation. We also had to deal with renting out our townhouse. Dh was more knowledgeable about everything though, and I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. So I decided just to trust him, worrying wasn't good for the baby, and I just let it be.
We've been in our house about 2 years now and love it

I was definitely nervous. Even though I knew we could afford it, I was nervous something would go wrong and we wouldn't be able to any more.

Yep. Huge commitment especially since we still have a condo and have to find a renter for it. Luckily I think we have.

Very nervous! I was so worried about something falling through. Totally irrational, but that's my style, haha.

So, so nervous! We're a few days away from settlement and haven't got insurance sorted yet, which you need to get your loan finalized. And of course... the insurance rep hasn't called us back since Friday... OMG. It doesn't help that DH is super p*ssed because of stress and therefore yells about everything which stresses ME out...

I think it's also the huge commitment. It's sooo much easier to just move away when you're renting. When you own... You have to worry about renting it out, or selling

I think you are all right, it's the commitment and financial thing that scares me. We bought a house 60k below what we got approved for so we are well within our budget, it is just all those things that come unexpectedly that really make me nervous.

we rent currently, and it makes me so nervous to buy. not sure if we want to stay here forever (definitely long term right now), afraid it would never sell, problems with the house...etc., etc.

Yes, SO nervous. It's such a big purchase and decision. We weren't looking for a starter home so we were practically making a lifetime decision. I also had some doubt because of the location of the home so I was nervous on if it was really the right choice.

I am nervous bc we are keeping our current home and renting it out, and we'll live in another state. So we'll have 2 mortgages and also have to hire a company to manage our rental property...

I was seriously nervous. I think it's because it was such a big purchase that comes with a whole new set of responsibilities. We also chose a place we see ourselves settling down in - it was and still is where we decided to (start and) raise our family. It's a huge step! We were stressed out, anxious, nervous, scared ... but it was all worth it

Yes because you never know what to expect even after the inspection and appraisal are complete. How are you going to decorate the place, where will all your belongings find the "perfect" home (I moved out dishes and pots and pans 4 times before finding the perfect home for them), are you going to repaint the walls/ceiling and if so, what color, etc. It's exciting, but also the unknowns that make it a lil nerve wrecking.
