We are starting tumbling and possibly swimming this fall. She's 18 months. At two, we will sign up for soccer.

So far she's only done mommy and me things, like gymboree and music class. The dance studio I want to sign her up with doesn't start until age 3 ..... she's 2 now. She loves to twirl, and says, "ballet!" while she's doing it.

My DD was doing ballet at age 2 and it was way too much for her and I pulled her. Every child is different. I took a break and now she enjoys the lessons she takes as a Kindergartner. So far my DS has only had swim lessons and I probably won't actively find anything for him until mayyybe age 3 but we'll see how he is doing.

I'm hoping to get him into a tumbling class when he turns 18 months in the fall, and swim lessons soon after. I really wanted to get him in swim this summer, but his bedtime was so early, I didn't feel comfortable trying to squeeze them in after work. But he's starting to get where he'd like to go to bed later, and eat dinner later, so I feel like we have time now.

I'm not sure where we'll go sports wise from there. He's high-energy, though, so he'll probably need the release.

We take her swimming and to the playground and lots of places to get her energy out now but we might do a swim class and drop in tumbling this winter when she's 2.5. As for organized sports, I'm not sure, probably early elementary school.

Dance class at 18 months. I think it's a "mom & me" style class. And ballet at 2!

Sports at 18m (soccer). It is a mommy and me course. Then, he will be on his own at 2. The first team will start at 4.5/5 yrs old and his daddy will be his coach.
Swimming starts in a few weeks.

We started him in swim class as a newborn, but he really started "getting it" at 12 months, and at 19 months he has taken off and been thriving in the class.

We haven't really looked into anything else at this point though. He was still too young for many of our zoo and city programs this summer, so next year hopefully he'll get involved more.

The local dance group affiliated with our city's ballet recommended age 3 for ballet, so we just followed that recommendation. We start Saturday.

We did an open gym class at 2 to meet people, but I'm holding off on anything else for now. We do pitching/batting practice with him and have taught him a lot of swimming basics ourselves. I'll probably start formal swimming lessons sometime this year (he's 3). I'm sure he'd love tee-ball or baseball, but I don't want to pay for it/drive to it/have it dominate our schedule until he's older and it's less like a play date.

Wow! Everyone is starting so early! I WANTED to get DS (15 months) in a dance or gymnastics program this past summer or fall, but he was too young for them all. So, next summer at age 2 we'll probably start gymnastics.

We are going to start swimming lessons this winter.

I'm going to go against the current and say: maybe once she starts kindergarten.
It just doesn't fit my personality/ life to be driving her to a variety of activities and mingling while she does them. She goes to daycare where she plays like a maniac and socializes out the wazoo, so that's covered. And DH and I both work full time, so I want to spend the time I do have with her as a family, you know? For us, school age will be soon enough for her to learn about team sports.

We are thinking of starting tumbling at 18 months.
