So my DD2 is a late bloomer compared to her older sis (yes I know bad mommy comparing.) So, help me out when did your LO sit fully and unassisted by his/herself? DD2 is just over 7 months old and can sit for a few seconds before tumbling over.

I think around 6.5-7 months or so she could hold herself up if I sat her up. She sat up increasingly long periods of time before flopping over (always dramatically onto her back, sigh). At 7.5 months she figured out how to sit herself up, and immediately was then able to stay sitting pretty much forever it felt like.

@Mae: This is where we are! She's so dramatic in her 'fall" that she automatically flips to her tummy to try to get where she's going. We aren't crawling/scooting yet but she's so close to that too. I think she will crawl before she sits! ha

Four months for both my girls. They were early in most gross motor milestones.

Mine are late bloomers... LO #2 couldn't sit by himself till around 8 months. Even now at 9 months, I feel like letting him sit is still questionable! I believe LO#1 also was a late sitter at around 7.5 months. Don't worry!

The baby started sitting for a few seconds at a time probably at 6 months and by 7 months was sturdy.
My older son was about the same.

@LuLu Mom: he's always had good balance and hit physical milestones a bit ahead.

#1 started sitting at 6 months ( but wasn't sturdy until maybe 7 months?)
#2 started at 4.5 months and was sturdy by 5 months.

Decent by 6 months but still had to be supervised. By 7 months I could plop her down and walk away and know she would t topple over.

She was capable of sitting totally unsupported around 5.5 months. But she's now almost 7 months and I still have to put an arm around her or surround her with pillows because she greatly enjoys flinging herself backwards all the time. Probably because there are always pillows there to flomp onto.

10 months! but only started proper crawling at 12 months and walking at 16 months. Unstoppable now at 21 months!

About 5.5 months sitting assisted, now at 6 months can sit for an extended period of time but when she decides she is done sitting she just flings herself to the side and "falls" over onto her tummy, we are trying to teach her how to get from sitting to tummy

7 months for LO 1. he started walking at 9 months. LO 2 just started sitting at 8 months. We typically don't put them into sitting position very often until they can get there on their own though, so I think that might contribute to being "later" sitters.

6.5 months. He sat up and started crawling on the same day!

DD has been sitting unsupported since 5.5 months. She was wobbly around that time, but by 6 months she was sitting well for 10+ minutes.

She's been a solid sitter and can get herself in the sitting position for the past few weeks. So around 7 mo.
