I'm curious about this - when is this essential-for-babies item no longer a staple of the wardrobe?

Charlie is almost 27 months, and he still wears them every day!

@looch: Charlie wears a 24-month size onesie. He can still fit into his 18-month onesie, but it's a tighter squeeze.
I don't know where the onesies are from. They just magically appear in the dresser drawer as Charlie gets bigger.

I was hoping you had a secret source for 2T sized ones...shoooooot!

@mrbee: haha!! the onesie fairies leave them at night....
RJ stopped wearing onesies around 18 months. I just found it easier to check his diaper when he was wearing shirts. He walked late (14 months) so until then he wore onesies every day because I hate how shirts ride up and expose the belly and back as you pick them up. Once he was walking independently and I didn't have to carry him as much, we switched to shirts. Much easier to find in stores!!! Mrs. Bee must order Charlie's onesies online because I could never find the 24 month ones!!

Lo has 24 month onesies. She's only 7 months now, and in 12 month onesies, so she'll wear them until she grows out of them.

I like onesies to keep the back covered. I find that they're good when you've got to layer shirts too, the bottom one always stays in.
I've been looking for some 2T ones, but no luck.

@looch: I just checked, and they're from Carter's. Bee gets them from diapers.com:

I stopped buying them once DD outgrew her 12-18 month clothes.

DS is only 11 months but is already outgrowing his 18 month onesies. He isn't walking yet, and I'm really hoping that we can make it to the point he is walking independently with the 24 month onesies. Carters 24 months seem to be the largest of the brands I've found so far, and DS has room in them. Gerber makes a 36 month onesie (Target is where I saw them I think) but I didn't buy any then. They looked slightly longer than the 24 month Carters, since Gerber typically runs pretty small for sizes. Since it's going to be summer, I'm hoping I can get away with one piece rompers and such, which seem to have a little extra room than onesies, while still being one piece.
I love onesies and would keep DS in them for a lot longer if I could find ones that would continue to fit, but I don't know anyone who makes 2T or 3T onesies.

@mrstilly: Re: Gerber sizing, DS is 11 months old and typically wears a 12- or 18-month sized onesie (depending on the brand)... we inherited some Gerber 24 month onesies, and they fit perfectly right now, so I'd imagine the 36-month ones might fit our kids when they're half that age!

LO is 11 months old and is still wearing onesies! She has really cute ones from baby gap! Size 12-18 months. Luckily they make onesies til 24 months old!

Yup, I've yet to find 2T onesies, but I don't need the white ones for undershirts. I like the ones that are either colored or have a design on the front.
I have to check Osh Kosh, now that I am thinking about it...no luck, they're only up to 24 months.

I did some searching... A place called Essential Whites has LS, SS and sleeveless onesies up to a size 6T. They are pricey and only in white, but they are out there.

On Amazon I found Gerber Onesies in 3T and 4T. They run small, so they are probably more like 2T and 3T.

There is also a brand at Sears called ToughSkins who make bodysuits in colors/stripes that go up to 4T. They have a few basic striped ones in long sleeve and some cuter ones in short sleeve.

Etsy might be another option if you are looking for something specific or something really cute. I saw some places that would do a size upgrade to 5T for bodysuits. They'll be more pricey though.

I only plan to do onesies until we potty train, then I think we should be done (in theory!).
Thanks for those resources!
