At what age could you put out decorative knick knacks again? We moved right around when he became mobile so I just never unpacked any of the framed photos, decorative items, etc because I figured what's the point.
He's 16 months. Wondering at what age I can decorate and not worry he'll grab/break everything?

I may be in the minority, but I never put mine away. DS is almost 3 and never broken anything. However, I think it depends on the temperament of the child....my son was never interested in knick knacks and really only played with his own stuff.

@ValentineMommy: you know, part of me has wondered that if they were out all along, he would have always seen them and not been so interested. Now when I put them out he'll be like "oooh, what's that". But he is pretty good with listening or being distracted when he grabs something he shouldn't. And gets disinterested quickly on his own.
I'm just so sick of having a boring apartment with no decor!

She usually leaves everything alone when we go to my parents house. She's broken one frame at home, but it doesn't bother me because I can hang it on the wall too.

I second @ValentineMommy: - we never really fully childproofed our house. We were going to go the full child proof route and then Ks daycare teacher who's opinion I really value counseled me to not go crazy. We have baby gates for stair safety and outlet covers but that is it.
We spend a lot of time at other peoples houses - so for us it was more important to teach K how to be safe, not to use child proofing to keep her safe. She has never broken anything to date and we have had no issues. It does mean earlier on we watched her more and I have put cleaning products/medicine in places out of her reach but I have also taught her about them.

T is 10.5 months and we have not put anything away yet. I do plan on keeping a few things out of her reach but she's really only interested in the tv remotes and our cell phones

My son would have been all over new stuff around at that age, so I probably would have just left it all packed up until at least 2. I am lazy, though.

We left most stuff out. Our formal living room was gated off until this past fall (so lo was 2.5.) She'll definitely touch things now but she'll follow rules like not carrying breakable things around etc. Nothing's been damaged yet. Anything very important is up high or somewhere inaccessible to her.

We never really put anything away, but nothing is within his reach. I'm working on getting him not to touch things when I say not to... It's a work in progress.

DS is 16.5 months and we never put them away. Occasionally he takes a framed picture of our dog off an end table and runs to show it to us, but that's pretty much the extent of him messing with things. He also uses coasters intentionally so it might just be his temperament

We are baby proofing now and we are not putting anything away to begin with!

I've never put anything away either.
She likes to explore things but I let her know when it's time to be gentle/put things down/don't touch. -
I didn't put anything away, but I did put some child locks on cabinets and doors when DD2 came along. I didn't have to do that with DD1, but DD2 liked to explore a lot more!

We don't have many knick knacks, but don't plan to put anything away. I figure the baby will learn to co-exist with the stuff.

We don't have a lot of knick knacks but I never put anything away. He went through a phase where he emptied the bottom shelves of our bookshelf every day, which was annoying, but we filled those shelves with his books and kept putting them back together. He's broken a couple of things but first of all I don't own anything expensive and second I used each opportunity to talk about how some things are "breakable" and he got it surprisingly well! Now if it happens it's truly an accident, not because he was messing around with things.

@Mrs D: that has been our philosophy too. We basically didn't babyproof other than outlet covers.

I didn't alter anything, but it wasn't like I had tons of valuable/breakable stuff out.
