I can't wait to go camping this spring or summer with Charlie and Olive for the first time. They will be 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. We'll all be sleeping together in one tent which we've never done before, so that will definitely be interesting. I'm pretty sure if we have a jam packed day and we let them stay up a little, they will just pass out.

@Mae: Ditto! The only time I slept in a tent when I was a kid was in our backyard, lol. I went "hardcore" camping for the first time last summer. Never again. Didn't help that I was super sick and hungover the next day... trying to sleep it off in a hot tent on a shitty air mattress, not fun.

We will never go camping.
I will, however, set up a tent in our backyard and sleep out there just for fun with my LO. We did that a few times as kids. My mom would go inside and make hot cocoas, we'd have sleeping bags and everything. At the same time, we had the luxury of going to to use the bathroom and going inside for pancakes in the AM!

@locavore_mama: there is a place called rudd pond not too far from here. it is an easy place to camp with kids. they have a lake, waterfall, hot showers, and it's not too far from ny!

We took Liam camping in a tent when he was 16 months old! He did great! We got a big tent that we could stand up in and brought his pack n play. The campsite had a playground and was also at the beach, so he had a blast.

I wanted to take C last year (she was around 1), but the hubs didn't think she was ready for it yet. This year would've been perfect, except #2 is due in May, so I don't want to venture out with a toddler and newborn and ruin the weekend for our fellow campers. We'll probably go next year when they are 3 and 1.
We always go car camping and stay in a campground designed for tents/RVs (we are too poor for an RV, plus I like sleeping outside in a tent!) with hot showers, a small general store, and access to the beach and hiking. Can't wait!

We took them last year when Lilly was just a few months past one and Caidence was almost 5. We also took Caidence when she was about 2ish. We will definitely be camping this year as well. Its a lot of fun and the kids love it 
eta: we go out to the middle of nowhere, no campground, no cell service or electricity of any sort.

It's been years since we went camping, but my sons first time was when he was 1.5 (miserable!!) We've been many times since then and it's gone great, we haven't taken our daughter yet, and likely won't until she's 3.5 next summer when my husband comes home.

We took K at 7 months and it was pretty successful. We love to camp and are having her first birthday party at a campground actually I think she will have more fun on this trip because she's mobile now!

We're going to try cabin camping this summer, but I think maybe around 2 or 3 we'll be brave enough to try tent camping.

We went last year when R was 13 months...and I totally took her home at about 9:30pm because she was just crying about being in the pnp. Not used to it since she only sleeps in her crib. Anyways we left DH there and returned in the morning to "day camp." Next time we go I need to be mentally prepared for a different schedule.

We took him at 16 and 17 months but he slept in his travel crib in my MILs RV. We will definitely go this summer again and probably will be in a tent (but still in the crib). He will be 2 in may.

I first went when I was 6 months old so I thought we'd take LO super early. The reality of waking up a campsite with a screaming baby multiple times per night made us think better of it. Now she sleeps through the night most of the time and I'm just waiting for her to learn to walk.

I haaaate camping! It's not the fact that it's outdoors -- I love being outside! It's just SUCH a pain. There is so much to pack and prepare and by the time I've packed up and gotten everything ready I feel ready to crash on my couch -- not head out to the wilderness and set up a tent and cook over a fire! It's just so much work. I prefer relaxing vacations and camping just doesn't for me. I can't imagine taking a small child!

Rosie's first camping trip will be when she's nearly 8 months old- can't wait! Our two older kids were 2 years old and 4 months old when we took them on our first family camping trip.

DS's first camping trip was at 3 months old! We took him again at 15 months old and that time we had a tent trailer which made it a little easier, his pack n play fit really well in it.
We plan on taking him camping again in a couple months (turns 2 next week) but this time will be just in a tent. Should be interesting!

I have camped with my nieces and nephew... first was a fall baby and we went May long, second was a March baby and she went May long, 3rd is a April baby and she went June. We camp a lot though so it is nothing unusual! We will do the same with ours!
