I'm not a fan of being without mod cons, so I will put it off until DD id old enough to ask for it.

If I could walk into a fully stocked site, with food, we'd go. But we have no gear and no place to store it.

I'd like to go this summer, but D thinks we should wait until E is out of diapers and is no longer sleeping in a crib.

Probably not anytime soon. I have never gone camping and it's not on my bucket list or to do list.

I have no desire to go camping… maybe I'll cave if they really want to someday.

I love backcountry backpacking the most, but car camping, at the right camp spots, can be really nice too. Im thinking we may try to do a nice little overnighter camping trip this fall when our LO will be a few months old. They're very portable at that age and I think it may be good for my new mom confidence to prove that we can still do stuff like that we used to enjoy so much. At that age all benefits will be for me/us, of course! I doubt she will know where she is!
But the outdoors have always been such an important part of our lives (even though we have lived in the middle of a big city for almost 15 years, all told) that it's important to me that we introduce her to it early and often.

We've discussed this and I am staying home while DH takes them!

I'm not a fan of sleeping in a tent, but I know DH's been longing to go to the mountains up north. But I honestly think it'll be too hardcore for me since that would mean no roads and open wilderness! Tent camping here is a little different from back home where you kind of drive up to the campgrounds. So probably never.
But camping in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, sure. Maybe when DD is at least 3. I'm hoping we can squeeze in a trip to Mora at the Santa Village as well. It'll be a win win. Hehe.

Well. We are looking at flying to New Zealand (where I'm from) in February with a what will then be 5 month old. My mother is obsessed with camping. In the summer she goes about once every 2 weeks, as well as her "long camp" of about 2-3 weeks (This lasts about 4-5 months. And I'm not kidding. Every. Second. Weekend.).
So we very well may end up camping with a 5 month old! Mum has an old 70s pop top camper though, so I may try and convince her to let us stay in there. We know a bunch of spots that are isolated enough that we won't be waking an entire campsite.
ETA: She lives in a tourist region, so she has literally dozens of campsites within about 20-30 minutes drive from her house. That's how she can go so often.

LO is 7 months and we were planning on going next weekend but now it's supposed to rain! SO not camping with a baby in the rain. We have 4 camping trips planned this spring/summer though.

We love camping so we'll probably take her next summer when she's 15-17 months old. This summer we'll probably take her to our family's cabin (inside sleeping) at 4-5 months.

My parents took me when I was only a month or two old. I wouldn't hesitate to do the same with my children. However we don't tent camp any more (we have a pop-up) camper so it's a moot point.

13 months! We will probably do again at 20/21 months. I'd do it really any time after STTN. An infant is less aware than a toddler, at least mine was.

@Marfi: I think 1-2 months would be ideal if no colic. They are easy to get back to sleep and sleep lots of the day and can be worn. I would try camping with a newborn if we are blessed wit another at some point.

@mrs. tictactoe: camping at the beach with LO is a dream of mine. We used to camp at OBX when I was a kid and it is one of my favorite memories!

My husband LOVES camping and his family goes every year. We went last summer when DS was 9 months old. It was in the mountains and we had a blast! We'll be going again this year (camping at the beach this time)- DS will be 21 months and DD will be 8 months.

We've already taken them camping previous summers. They have so much fun. No toys, no electronics but they manage to keep themselves busy for long periods just playing with dirt and sticks. Can't wait to go again. That reminds me, I need to start booking campsites.
