say a small motor boat with seats?

She's 6.5 months now and I would. But I grew up on a lake around boats my whole life- my dad even lived on one for 2 years!

hmm...he'd have to be able to swim honestly. I am so petrified of drowning incidents. And obviously he'd wear a life jacket anyways.

Oh, good question! Looking forward to see the responses. We are going to my family's cabin in July and I think we might take her on the pontoon boat but no small fishing boats or speed boats. She'll be 7 months then. I'm mostly worried about the sun and bugs.
ETA - We do have an infant life jacket.

Thanks for posting this, I have been thinking about it lately. This summer (LO will be 8m+) we'll be at the cottage, we usually ride in our boats without life jackets and of course I thought LO would be in one no question, but at her age and IF something were to happen what would be the point if none of us were able to help her in an accident if we were hurt, so we will need to have them on from now on too (I think?) until she (and other future LOs) are older.

I was 3 months old when I went out on my first boat. I say as long as you are going slow & everyone is wearing jackets & sun screen you'll be fine.

Probably 9 months or so. I'd take my 19 month old on one now. She'd love it.

We bought a 16' Smoker Craft fishing boat last year, LO was 10 months old. We have her in an infant life jacket, she loves the boat!!!
* ETA I would not feel comfortable in anything smaller without built-in seats.

She'll be in a boat at six months.

Our LO will be boating next summer when he will be 10 months. we had our friends on our boat last summer with their daughter who was 4ish months and she did great.
