We have a few days here and are looking into fun things! We were going to go to Legoland but the kids said no (?!) so we're going to check out the LA Zoo instead. Any other ideas?

I wouldn't go to the LA zoo. Nothing to special unfortunately and a lot of the exhibits are older style which personally makes me sad for the animals.
What part of LA? If you were thinking legoland that's pretty far south. You may as well head to San Diego for the zoo. Which is amazing! -
LA zoo is okay (they probably have the reindeer there). I recommend the California Science Center (you can get tickets to see the space shuttle).

Have you been to the La Brea Tar Pits? They're pretty cool. Legoland actually does a NY style ball drop for New Year's (at 6) which sounds fun. I've seen pics of the LA Train Museum which looks fun, but haven't been myself. I also like the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.

We went to The Huntington last time we were in LA and it was neat! They have a really cool children's botanical garden.

We went to the stars in the ground in Hollywood and Zuma got a pic with "Michael Jackson". Probably the highlight of her trip!

Yes kidspace in pasadena is incredible. In irvine is kid city which is a lot of fun too.

Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, near the Main Place Mall. And try to convince them to go to Legoland... it's much funner for their age then Disneyland, I think.
Adventure City in Stanton (tiny kids theme park) or Knott's is good, too. Disney is just way too expensive and crowded this time of year.

I think the LACMA has fun exhibits kids might like.

We thought Disneyland was great for younger kids since it's smaller. LO loved it.
