I have never seen SMH...ever! I'm so not with the times!
I personally can't ever bring myself to use LOL or any other acronym that involves laughing. I always use 'haha' instead.
@StrawberryBee: I hate it when people use 'u' and 'r' too!

I am guilty of using lol but I use it if I really thought something was funny, even if I didn't laugh out in hysterics. I use omg when I am surprised or mad. I also get annoyed when people can't spell things out or make up their own acronyms. No lie my mother in law did this as her status once: MLT u will GWC2U, the SDBS and MCB r GD, so annoyed. What?! Don't make things up, you look stupid because no one besides you knows what you mean.

I don't like most of them, although I do use OMG and lol quite a bit. I REALLY don't like it when people "abbreviate" words like U, R, wuz (seriously here?), prolly, etc.

I don't like any of them. There are the ones for things that aren't actual phrases that you would ever say in real life (FTW, SMH, etc). And the ones for actions that are CLEARLY not happening at the moment (ROFL, LMFAO). I also can't stand when people shorten things just to shorten them, like @boiledpnut: said. My dad does this in text messages and I hate it - it makes me physically cringe. I feel like all text/IM speak is indicative of the de-evolution of our social skills and communication skills and language, and it pains me to see it.
