My younger brother is just under 3 years younger than me.
My husband is an only child, but gained step-siblings in high school. His step-sister is a few months older and his step-brothers range in age from 10 years to more than 20 years older than him.
Interesting tidbit: My MIL remarried a man about 20 years older than her, and DH is 16 years older than me; and if you count all the step-siblings we have a sibling-age-range of 29 (my brother) to 68 (eldest step-brother).

I was the family 'surprise' - my sister is 12 years older and my brother is 8 years older. It was a pita when I was growing up because although I had siblings, I was more akin to an only child. We all get along amazingly now that we are adults, I would say apart from my husband, they are the closest people to me (even though I live on a different continent to them!)
