I'm just wondering what things will come in handy with a toddler and newborn...

I thought it was a RNP but baby 2 hated it with a passion.
I didn't really have any must haves besides a crib, dresser, double stroller.

I would say white noise machine - I plan to have one in each of the kids rooms so all the background noise is blocked out and they don't wake each other up

White noise machine and extra camera for our video monitor. New clothes if #2 is a boy. Probably an extra high chair and more straw cups/utensils, etc., depending on the age difference. Also depending on the age difference, we will probably get a second carrier so we can take both kids on hikes before DD is really good at walking on her own for long distances.

diapers and wipes
We were team green and now have one of each, poor DS had pink blankets and now has pink/purple sippy cups.

After DS was born we made two international moves before DD arrived. I didn't have any baby stuff left other than the crib so I had to buy everything again.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I didn't have a swing with my 1st and this was my exact thought. I hope DS#2 likes it!
The other things I'm thinking of getting are:
double stroller
new bibs and burp cloths
more baby towels
maybe some new clothes because they are born in slightly different seasons - we'll see how much will overlap -
A night nurse??

TV/iPad for the older kid while you get the hang of it. If you need to solo parent.

An Ergo. That way I can still pay attention to LO, change diapers, get lunch together, etc. while the baby is happy and sleeping on me.
