We don't do big gifts. I got him a digital piggy bank because his loose change are always EVERYWHERE (then the girls steal them and claim as their own lol).

Sweatpants, coasters, a calendar of a local photographer he likes, shoes, beard grooming stuff, and his big gift is tickets to see Alanis Morissette in Nashville in July. This is partially a gift for me too since it will be our first weekend away since having our third.

Thinking about a record player or chemex coffee maker but not sure. I think he way over spent on me but told me not to get him anything.

I try to get DH to scale back every year haha. We're not good at keeping gifts back for Christmas, we end up giving them to each other as soon as they come in the mail!

I got DH some new belts, shoes, shirts. I'm also putting money towards a nice mattress. Guess I'm boring and practical

He has a wishlist and I use camelcamelcamel to track it and buy things when the prices drop.

So, he got Airpods, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, a set of stickers, a Where's Waldo book (eye roll haha), annndddd I think that's it.

He gets me nothing and that's fine, I buy things for myself throughout the year and I usually give myself a $75-$100 budget for myself for Christmas.

Flannel lined jeans, nice slippers, fleeced lined house shirt... He's always cold!
He recently started a long commute job so I will go through all the CDs that have been sitting in a box in the basement for 3 years and put them in a case for his car. He usually listens to books but I think he'll appreciate the gesture.

@wrkbrk: yes he does 🤦‍♀️ Or at least I hope he wasn’t being sarcastic lol. But we watched her on Jimmy Fallon and he said he really wanted to see her and looked up her tour dates but she isn’t coming to our city.

We’re not spending much these days. It got silly to get him things because they always sat on the shelf. Like one year he asked for an echo dot, and it is somewhere never opened, years later! Many many things like that including several semi-pricey tech things, but I felt bad returning them myself. He can appreciate sentimental stuff in the moment but again, never a second thought, even the projects I spent tons of time on for our 10th anniversary.

So basically these days I go for food or funny stuff. This year it’s two things from Shutterfly, a “daddy” wine glass (because he will use that ... ) and socks with the kids’ faces on them. And then I was inspired by the World Market make your own advent calendar, but didn’t want to buy their fancy box, so we found 12 food things there to get and wrapped in 12 boxes. It’s little stuff like one is mustard he likes, some chocolate, etc. Fun for all and doesn’t have to sit on a shelf!

@pachamama: I haven’t worked in 5 years but I never look at it as his money. Because how much would it cost to pay someone to do what I do at home?? I earn that money trust me (I also supported him for two years while he struggled to find a new full time gig after a lay-off and felt the same in reverse, even though it was pre kids so he had so many fewer responsibilities!)

@cake2017: @pachamama: bc I buy my own things throughout the year and my own presents. 🤷‍♀️ I don't want him wasting money on something that I don't want.

However, last year was an exception, to his credit, he did get me a blanket I love, a necklace, and vintage wall hanging of Oxford where I studied.

Trust me y'all, he's way better than this sounds he takes both kids all the time and gives me a bunch of solo time.

We weren’t necessarily going to get each other gifts this year because we had our first baby 7 weeks ago, but I saw a deal on a le creuset braiser that I couldn’t pass up. He only ever cooks with our dutch oven anymore, because that’s how much he loves their enameled cast iron, so now he’ll get the same performance out of a pan that isn’t as ridiculously huge for 3 chicken thighs.
