I just added ~30 books to my to-read list. I've been kind of obsessing lately.
So, with the possibility of adding more books to my list, what are you reading right now and are you enjoying it?!
I am reading:
The Dark Half, by Stephen King

@.twist.: Recently read Supreme Ambitions, by David Lat, after reading this review in the Times!
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/08/books/david-lats-supreme-ambitions-is-a-thriller-for-lawyers.html
It was kind of a fun read! The author struggles with dialogue, but the plot was interesting.

Ha-ha this is kind of embarrassing but I'm ready the Lucky series from Joan Collins. I stumbled across the first book randomly and couldn't put it down so I'm going through them all. A little dirty at times but the story line and characters are so interesting! It's an easy read.

Shopaholic to the Stars. But I probably haven't picked it up in like a week. I don't know if I've out grown the series, or this one just isn't as good as the others.

@LuLu Mom: Ohhh, Lucky Santangelo! My mom had all those books and I read them during the summer as a teenager. So scandalous at the time! Hollywood Wives was my fave.
Currently reading How to Build a Girl, a coming-of-age type story about a British girl in the 1990s. Pretty good so far.

I'm reading Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan.

I'm reading 1Q84 which is amazing but extremely heavy, so I just keep that by my bed. On the subway I'm reading My Brilliant Friend, also loving it.

@MoreCoffee: YES! haha I just finished Chances and now I'm waiting for the library to transfer Lucky. But I plan on reading them all. I laugh at how "scandalous" they say 50 Shades is...I feel like for these being written in the 70s/80s there are some serious DIRTY parts to them, maybe more so than 50! ha

I just finished reading all of Liane Moriarty's books - I love the way she writes. My favorites were Big Little Lies and What Alice Forgot.
Next up is All the Light we Cannot See, which has been strongly recommended to me by several friends.

I just checked out 2 books from the library--one is the new JoJo Moyes book; the other I can't even remember the title of but it had a blurb by Lena Dunham on the cover and that attracted me, sadly.

Finally reading Wild, even though I ended up seeing the movie first, which I hate doing. It's still a great book, though.
@TheSwissWifeStyle: Wow, I didn't know there was a new Shopaholic book!
@mediagirl: I read that one a few years back. I really liked it!

@tequiero21: Ah!!! At least it's not Allegiant - I was depressed for a month after the ending. I had to read fanfiction that entire month to somewhat get myself out of the depression. lol!!
I just finished The Legend trilogy. It's along the line of Hunger Games/Divergent/Maze Runner. I'm a total YA/Teen book fan. lol!

@mrbee: Cool! I like crime novels, it doesn't appear to be a very well known book, but it has a good rating so far. I'll check it out!
@LuLu Mom: Cool! What's the first novel in the series called?
@Beehive: I tried reading Hard-Boil by HM and struggled so much with it. I'm really hesitant to pick up another one of his books!
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I added the first one to my list. I'm not normally into chick lit but it has a pretty decent rating so I'll check it out.
@elljay: Added big little lies to my list! Thanks!
Keep them coming!
I love talking about books.

I'm reading Born in Shame by Nora Roberts. Classy stuff over here. I'm going to read Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton next. I really love his books and The Lost World is one of a couple that I haven't read yet.

@.twist.: I haven't actually read any of his others, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm finding it very readable actually - it's a really engaging story, and not hard to follow, so I was pleasantly surprised! Maybe take a look at the first chapter to see what you think, if you're thinking about trying HM again...

Seeking Peace by Mary Pipher. So far I like it. It's non-fiction about depression and meditation and how Buddhist practices helped the author through a period of depression.

@Leialou: I just added Jurassic Park to my To-read list because, JURASSIC PARK!
@Beehive: Thanks! I might, actually. You aren't the first person I've seen recommend it, and it seems REALLY highly recommended in online communities. I might give him another shot. I will try the sample on my kindle.

@.twist.: Jurassic Park is so freaking good. It is one of the few book/movie pairings where I just love both so much. The movie is quite different from the book but they both have their strengths.

I'm reading Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Other Stories from the Crematory. I've just started, but I like it so far.

@elljay: I just finished Big Little Lies. I loved it!!! The end was filled with OMG moments.
@Anagram: Is it Me Before You? Or is there a newer one?
@Alivoo01: Have you read The Testing series? I'm also a HUGE YA fab and the testing series was one of favorites.

@JennyG: I know!! I think I reread the ending like 2 or 3 times. All of her books have really intense endings!

@.twist.: the first one is called Chances, I actually accidently started with like prequel written many years later and then discovered it was part of an older series.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Yep - still in Middle School
Almost done re-reading all the HP books, one chapter at a time before bed... haha
pomegranate / 3244 posts
My at home to read before bed book is Dragonfly in Amber (book 2 in the Outlander series). My train/commute book is Our Ameria: A Hispanic History of the United States. Neither is as interesting as I'd hope they'd be! I'll look for something new at the library when I'm there this weekend.

Just finished The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. Reading a memoir Excavation and a novel called The Dead Key by D.M. Pulley.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@mrsjazz: What did you think of The Almost Moon? It's got a mediocre review on Goodreads.
@swurlygurl: I read and re-read HP in adulthood. Hope you enjoy it.
coconut / 8234 posts
@.twist.: Yeah, I read the Goodreads reviews after I read the book. I am a fan of Alice Sebold so I would have bought the book anyway, but it definitely wasn't her best. The writing wasn't what I expected or up to the par of Sebold's previous works. The story is a difficult one but it was a page turner for me only because I wanted to know what was going to happen to the protagonist. I would probably give it 3 stars.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I've been working my way through the series since August. I'm ashamed since I'm usually a 2-3 book a month pace, but with E's lack of sleep and high work demands, I'm soooo slow right now.

Elephant Company. It's great - I'm thinking of reading the author's other book about pandas.

Lock In by John Scalzi. I thought there would be more sci-fi and less crime, detective story than in seems to be 1/2 way through. Not the book i was hoping for, I guess

Just finished Girl on the Train and am starting Broken Harbor by Tana French. I'm sort of conflicted about Girl on the Train because I think it was well written, but to the point that it was a very uncomfortable read for me. I liked the story but guessed the ending early on. Looking forward to Broken Harbor because I love the series.
