Hellobee Boards

Every other year the whole family gets together. We have an off year for those with in-laws to go too. But we all get together at my Aunt's house. They have a big hill in the backyard, so we always find some cardboard and ski down the hill. The kids, and adults have a ball with it. Usually still pretty nice here in Atlanta.

We spend the majority of the day preparing food then after we eat dinner we bust out the paper and go through all the ads and make a game plan for black Friday And now that lo is old enough we have her go through the ads and we cut out the things she likes and put them in an envelope so we can "send it to Santa".

I am looking forward to establishing Thanksgiving traditions for DH & I and our eventual LOs.

I have always been a "Thanksgiving Orphan," living far away from family. Last year a cousin invited me to his house (2hrs away), before that I was living abroad for a long time so didn't really celebrate. In college, I always went to my aunt's house (1 hr away). Pretty much my entire adult life I've just had Thanksgiving with whoever will take me in.

Next year, hopefully, life will be a little more stable and we can start some traditions of our own!

Growing up, I lived in a cul-de-sac and we always got together with our neighbors, rotating houses every year. It was so fun! None of us had family in the area, and all the kids were similarly aged.

I would love to have a similar tradition for us. I guess it depends on where we wind up living!

Cook a ton of food, try to eat as much as possible, pass out, wake up late in the night and eat leftovers and watch whatever movies are showing on TV. Pretty much how it goes! There is a traditional dish my mom always made, and now me -- broccoli casserole. Anyway, it's usually just DH and me and my dad and his wife. Though this year it might just be DH and me. Still... will cook way too much food.
