What other furniture do you have? I’m a big fan of simple white/ off white curtains. After going back and forth for months I opted for white ikea ritva curtains in my family room and I think they look a lot nicer than what they cost ($25 for two panels!).
That rug is really pretty and I think would add plenty of interest to the room already.

A white/ivory/very light grey. I wouldn't try to pull any of the brighter colors out of the rug to match, I think that'd compete with the rug.

@Foodnerd81: its the dining room and the table and buffet are dark wood

@Foodnerd81: @PurplePumps: I was wondering about ivory /off white but wasn't sure - thanks!

@Mrs. Pickle: love those but I think I would be too nervous to pull that off

I’ve posted this before in other threads, but here are my white curtains in my family room. We had so many windows I didn’t want anything busy. But I admit it’s definitely a safe option.

I would totally do some print mixing. But that fits my style. You have a floral medallion style rug, so I would do some kind of geographic print on the curtain. If you don't like "busy" (because I do, but it's not for everyone), you could do a tone on tone pattern. But you'd have to pick an overall color scheme before you pick the curtains--what color do you want your throw pillows and throw blanket to be? What's your overall style--traditional, modern, eclectic, bohemian?

I would either do the same color as the walls with dark wood blinds OR a complementary pattern (also very much my personal style).

I would do a subtle stripe that picks up the dark blue in the rug. The Riviera Stripe in navy from Pottery Barn fit the bill: https://www.potterybarn.com/shop/rugs-windows/curtains-drapes-by-style/riviera-stripe-curtains/

@Mamaof2: gotcha. is the dining table directly on top of the medallion? Because the rug reads more burnt orange when I look at the whole rug, but in the link you posted there are a few people posting the rug in a dining room with the table on top--then the medallion is kind of covered and you mostly see the multicolored/blue edges. So I'd get a geometric pattern that coordinates with the edge colors. It's a really nice rug!
What color is your dining furniture?

I'd do navy, orange, or the teal/sage color (hard to know what it looks like in real life).

@Mamaof2: We have the same rug!!
No curtains, though - the room faces the back of our property and we have built in blinds. I think I'd probably do something navy, or if you're a bit bolder, a mustard/saffron color. Possibly a solid with some embroidered detail? I have some curtains in another room from Target I think would look nice, but they're a few years old so not sure that really helps you. They're either these or similar to these:

Love the rug! I’d bring in more blue with the curtains, not as dark as navy though. Then for a permanent centerpiece, if you don’t have something already, either a collection of varying vases (heights and colors) and all white faux flowers or a low vase/ bowl with a colorful flowers including orange.
