On her actual birthday, we went to Target for a photoshoot, then lunch with my parents. I don't know what we did after, but we had a cupcake w/ candle and sang her happy birthday after dinner.
Then the Sat after we had a casual party at my parent's house that has a winter wonderland theme.

DS's bday was on Thanksgiving, so we had the usual family dinner that day, and hosted a 'football' party for his bday the next day. We had close family over at noon for soup and appetizers, gifts, and cake and then later had addt'l friends over to watch the college football game.
Nothing too extravagant but enough that I got some super cute pictures.

We're having a party at home the day before her birthday. I'm planning a garden theme. I made my first party related purchase a couple of days ago. I'm excited!
On her birthday we'll probably go to the zoo. She loves the zoo. We'll invite the grandparents along.

We had family over for brunch. It was pretty low key. We didn't even buy her a present because she got so many gifts from our families.
Dd2s birthday is Thanksgiving weekend so we will have family over for a BBQ and it will be similarly low key

For DD, on the actual day, we had a family photo in the park, lunch out then the aquarium. At the weekend we hired the party room in our condo building and had friends over.
On DS's birthday we had a picnic and cake in a gorgeous park near where we live. Lots of his cousins came and they played on the grass, went on a boat and had ice cream after. It was lovely.

We took DS1 to a donut shop for breakfast. Sang happy birthday there and the donut was his first cake. It was a week day so he went to daycare that day and we brought donuts for his teachers. I think we face timed with family after work and he opened presents but he really had no idea it was his birthday.

Actual birthday: my parents were in town so they hung out with her in the morning, then I left work early so we could all go to the zoo together. Then she opened all her presents right before bedtime.
We had a birthday party the Saturday prior at a neighborhood brewery and invited a few friends. I made a chocolate cake and a separate smash cake. Then the next day we (+ my parents) took her to a petting farm where she got to see horses, cows, little baby pigs, rabbits, peacocks, goats, and ponies.

Actual birthday... she is going to daycare because she loves it there. I am making her favorite dinner (stuffed cabbage).
Birthday party... a non-themed party of 14 adults and two other kids.
I really wanted to get some professional photography done of our family but I totally forgot to schedule it and won't be able to by Wednesday when she turns one.

DD1's birthday was a Sunday, and we had her birthday party that day. DD2's birthday was a Saturday, and I made funfetti pancakes and then our family went to the Children's Museum. Her party was the next weekend when my inlaws were in town.

@caterw: that is beautiful!
We had a party for him the weekend before with our parents, siblings, and LOs cousins. I baked a cake and cupcakes and we grilled hotdogs. Easy!
On his birthday we took him to the mall for dinner and playtime at the soft play place.
