Full-fledged m/s hasn't hit, but I'm definitely struggling to eat. Between my smell sensitivity and food aversions I've lost 4 lbs in the past week.
What did you eat in your first tri when you weren't feeling so hot?

Oranges, apples, berries... String cheese, Greek yogurt... Lots of chicken and salmon... I had to "mind over matter" sometimes but it was worth it. I also did a lot of oatmeal and green monster smoothies, if you add a scoop of peanut butter they taste like a milkshake..

It varied depending on what I didn't have an aversion to any particular day... I remember having lots of toast, potatoes, egg sandwiches, cereal bars... I lost about 8lbs and am slowly starting to put it back on at 17wks.

I ate a lot of starches. Saltine crackers and french fries were my best friends. I was able to get a normal meal in during lunchtime but that was it until about 15 weeks.

Potatoes always seemed to settle my stomach, whether it was baked, french fried, or mashed. I was also big on plain cheerios.

I ate a lot of Apples and Peanut butter. I also LOVED mash potatoes. Starches help absorb stomach acid. I ate a lot of fresh fruit. My doctor said to eat whatever I could keep down. He said that getting through the first trimester was about survival.

As long as I ate small meals I never really felt nauseous. I ate lots of carbs, fruit and snacked on pretzels at work.

Almonds and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Sometimes buttered noodles. That was pretty much it.
ETA: And oranges! I craved oranges!

I did lots of snacking on bland food. I ate a lot of crackers and cheese, apples, & hamburgers & french fries. I did not eat very healthy during my first tri.

1st trimester was all about survival, and lots and lots of Zofran. I ate whatever I could; so if I craved something (or, more often, if one thing out of 10 didn't make me want to throw up when I thought about it) I ate it.
Milkshakes, chicken mcnuggets/fingers, potatoes, lots of pasta, bagels, cheese pizza, etc.

Apple juice, kings hawaiian sweet rolls, buttered rice. That was it a lot of days....

nothing, lol...
...just kidding...but I didn't eat much! Mostly carbs.

Lots of carbs. A lot of white rice, bagels, cereal... I also liked pizza and Chinese food.

I'm eating lots of carbs too. I'm constantly craving pasta and plain bagels with cream cheese. I don't really have morning sickness, but I have intermittent acid reflux that's pretty bad, so plain foods are appealing. I'll also have a glass of whole milk when I don't feel like eating, and cheese sticks as a snack.
I've lost close to 10 pounds so far, too. So I must be burning a TON of calories, lol.

Anything and everything I could get my hands on!! I learned that I felt sick when I got hungry so I ate and ate to make sure I rarely felt sick. I gained 8lb!!!

All I could stomach were carbs. I ate tons of Pillsbury crescent rolls. I definitely lost weight with the nausea in the first tri.
clementine / 769 posts
The only thing that I could keep down was fruit, salads, and Chipolte. Water made my stomach feel sour.

@dreamocracy: after I read your comment I was like hmmm, Cheerios.... And went and ate a bowl. They hit the pregnancy nausea spot! Haha

Bagels with cream cheese were both a craving and one of
The only things that sounded appealing, right @runningelley??
I also ate a lot of
Toast with butter. Also chocolate milk!

Just like everyone else-- carbs. Crackers, bread, mashed potatoes, tater tots.., you get it. Generally the more processes the better- I couldn't cook chicken myself but I could eat frozen chicken fingers. And meatball subs- I had one for lunch every day for like two weeks.
honeydew / 7589 posts
Frozen fruit, potatoes, and yogurt drinks. On really good days I'd force myself to eat beans for extra protein and iron.

The first time it was popcorn and Popsicles. Second time was French fries, bagels, eggs, and hash browns.

Just found a chocolate protein shake in the fridge...finally something I can tolerate!

Basically only carbs. I couldn't stomach vegetables at all. I lost almost 10 pounds those first 3 months but now at 22 weeks have gained it back plus some. I ate a lot of fried egg sandwiches, grilled cheese, bagels, pizza, Cap'n Crunch and Kraft dinner. None too healthy, but DH didn't complain....all his fav foods!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
Any type of potatoes, bread (not wheat bread, it made my stomach turn), crackers and cheese. Basically carbs. Oh and fruit. Watermelon and strawberries have been my friends this week (I'm 9 weeks).
nectarine / 2750 posts
A lot of fruit and ice cold water - I just wanted everything to be cold! I also ate pepperoni, popcorn, eggs and smoothies. When things were really bad, I just ate plain white rice.
persimmon / 1233 posts
Horrible carbs and fruit. Easy mac, cheese sandwiches with mayo, oranges, gallons of applesauce. No vegetables or meat, I couldn't stomach the thought!
honeydew / 7586 posts
I think I lived on string cheese. Every once in a while I could choke something else down. It was brutal though!
papaya / 10473 posts
Peanut butter sandwiches, fries, Cheez Its, goldfish crackers, plain chicken noodle soup, Cheerios, other plain cereals.Basically plain starchy carbs... And I craved clementines like crazy, which I can't explain.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Fruit, especially apples, hard boiled eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, baked potatoes.

Lots and lots of fruit! Mostly watermelon, clementines, berries, mango and lots of cucumber.

@yoursilverlining: "1st tri is all about survival and Zofran." Amen.
I know if I don't eat I'll just feel worse. So, it's basically been whatever doesn't make me wanna hurl at that present moment. Apples, mash potatoes, saltines & OJ have given me the most comfort lately. That, and egg mcmuffins for breakfast.

I ate carbs, and tried to get some protein in. Peanut butter sandwiches, pita bread, yogurt. And Taco Bell. SO much Taco Bell.
cherry / 193 posts
Carbs. My dinners were basically grilled cheese and fruit for a good two months. Sour fruit like pineapple was especially good.
