What did you get your SO for your 1st anniversary? DH and I are coming up on ours and I honestly can't think of a gift! How terrible! The 1st wedding anniversary gift is supposed to be related to paper. Did you go the traditional route? Or did you give something else meaningful instead?

I did a gift certificate and a nice hand made card. We also cooked a really nice dinner at home.

I got him a book. Boring.... but he liked it. You can get him tickets to something like a game or a trip?

We wrote our own vows so I typed those up in the font of our wedding paper and did our initials in the middle cutout. with a green background leftover from our wedding paper. In a floating frame.
My husband got me a paper journal to write in every year on what we did on our anniversary. Speaking of which, I need to write this years! -

@GreenThumb: I got him a book about his favorite football team. It was pretty neat, I wish I remember what it's called. It has all sorts of things in it, like ticket stubs and stuff that you can look through and pull out. I saw him looking at it one day and told him no way can he buy it because it was pretty expensive.... and then got it for him

I got him a travel book for our vacation this summer and I reframed our honeymoon photos that his buddy broke by running into the wall (ok- that mighta been for me).

@Grace: Oops on the photo ;)! A travel book is a great idea. I wish we were going somewhere! With TTC this past year we've put most of our travel on hold. We are dreaming of a big honeymoon someday, but also hopeful we can take a somewhat tame babymoon in the late winter/early spring.
@artbee: I love sneaky presents like that! I've been on the lookout for him to mention something, but I don't think a hatchet for camping fits the bill for an anniversary gift... heehee!

I wrote a reason down every day during the first year why I loved him. Then I made a scrapbook for him. He cried when he opened it.

@regberadaisy: The funny thing is we really still need to do a photo album (I know... a whole year later!). We've talked about doing it together so I know I can't just go ahead and do it myself, but maybe I can at least get us started... PS: Thanks for the icon love! I got him Yankee baseball tickets when they were playing close to us. He's a lifetime fan so I just bought him a shirt and the tickets and we did a weekend away.

I got him a framed print of the night sky on our wedding night (the stars/moon/planets as seen from our wedding location -- website isn't working now, but it's at http://indigonight.com/).
I thought his was really inventive. He got me an antique postcard of our honeymoon location (Maui) and dollar bills from WWII that were stamped with 'Hawaii.' He's planning to mount them on an old map of our wedding location.

We were on a budget, so we couldn't do anything super exciting (trip). Our 1st was a few weeks ago. I bought him a golf push cart & he got me a video camera!

Ours is October 1st so we haven't hit one year yet, but we are going to Italy for two weeks as a sort of belated honeymoon/anniversary trip (we had to only take a mini-moon after the wedding due to work schedules). So we aren't doing additional gifts - I figure the plane tickets count for paper! =) We have also talked about getting a nice piece of art or something while we are there to remember the trip by, as well.

We switch off each year who sticks with the traditional anniversary gift, and I took the first year. I got him tickets to the NLCS when his team (The Mets) were playing.

We're taking a babymoon/anniversary trip a week before our anniversary as a gift to each other

Hubs hates presents (both buying and receiving), so we don't do anniversary gifts. We just devote the day (or weekend) to each other and have fun with each other.

We went to New Orleans so we decided to not do gifts. I wanted to get him something small so I went the cheesy route and threw some lottery tickets into a card. He went the uber romantic route and gave me a scrapbook in our wedding colors with a written out summary of our first year together. There were lots of empty pages where he says he's going to do the same for every anniversary. It was the sweetest gift!!

I incorporated paper, so there were two gifts.
One was actually a tool set/drill from Lowes; DH is ALWAYS saying, "Oh,, I could easily make that!" But when I asked him to, he would say I have no tools. So I remedied the problem lol
Then I also made a book of "coupons". I bound several pieces of 5"x5" cardstock with ribbon, and decorate each page with paper, ribbons and stamps. Each page had a coupon such as. "free full body massage", "one night of full TV remote control", "dinner AND dishes" etc etc.
It was great. -

we're going on a post anniversary cruise in nov. it's DH's surprise gift, so I have to come up with something small to give him for our actual anniversary

I got DH a silly expensive wine decanter that he has been in love with for YEARS. He got me a diamond necklace, but was quick to point out not to expect such a big gift every year. haha!

We are not big on gifts in general and don't do anniversary gifts. I think we'll end up going to dinner at the restaurant where we got married. I"ll be ridiculously pregnant at that point!
