I need ideas! Our 2nd anniversary is coming up and boys are sooooo hard to shop for.
So far my only idea is a hammock. He's never mentioned that he'd like one, but we have a pretty big back yard, he loves to relax, and I think it would be nice to have some place to sit/lay while LO plays back there when she gets a little older.
What did you give your hubby.... or men what did you're wives get you?

For our second anniversary, I got DH a kindle....he sent me beautiful roses at work. The idea of a hammock is good!

I would love to hear ideas! We're about to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, and we try to stick to the traditional gifts just to help us both (okay, me) search for something more meaningful. Year 2 is cotton, so a hammock would be a great idea! Though, I would definitely enjoy it more than he would... care to give him some hints?

We went in together on a gift and used a Groupon for a framed last name print. One of those where someone takes pictures of things that look like letters and you can put them together to spell something out.

For our 2nd anniversary, I gave him...a baby. LO was born 3 days after our anniversary But seriously, I feel your pain - DH is so hard to shop for. We decided after our first anniversary that we would just go out for a very nice dinner each year and that would be our gift to each other. It takes the pressure off of coming up with a physical gift. Traditionally, the 2nd anniversary gift is cotton. Maybe you could get him some fancy hobby-related clothes? My DH usually won't buy himself new hiking clothes, even if he needs them, and he definitely won't get the tricked out stuff for himself, but he always likes when I get him new high-end gear.

Umm... a baby? We planned a huge trip to Hawaii for our anniversary, so we decided not to give gifts. On our anniversary I just gave him a simple card with a picture of my positive HPT in it and the words "You're going to be a daddy." I got my BFP 2 days prior.
I love the idea of a hammock. Who wouldn't like that gift?

I brought him some cuff links with some little diamonds in it. He brought me one of those charm bracelets from Kay. He will add a charm for the baby soon.

DH and I went on a cruise for our anniversary last year. This year, I don't really have any ideas yet. I'm seriously hoping that I'll be pregnant by then (we'll have been trying for 18 months) - I love the stories of girls who can surprise DH with a positive test!
Personally, my DH would LOVE a hammock - especially if you've got the place to put it! And the fact that the second year anniversary is cotton just makes it even better.

I gave him a book that a movie he likes was based on, dry-wick running shorts, and a t-shirt. It wasn't super fancy, but they were appreciated items. Oh, and a reversible black/brown belt.

I don’t think we’ve ever gotten each other anniversary gifts (either dating or since getting married), and rarely give each other holiday or birthday gifts. We like to get/give “experiences” more or more expensive items we can share. Dinners out (like $300 dinners, so, special occasion), weekend trips away (Groupon is great for this), concert tickets, Bose stereo system for the kitchen, etc.

For the second year I got Mr. H 100% cottom t-shirts from his alma mater. After all, the traditional gift for the second year is cotton.
For the first year (the traditional gift is paper) I got him an uncut sheet of bills from the U.S. Mint and framed them. They were from the year of our wedding.
I don't think I'll do the traditional/modern gift every year but it is a place to start when you are married to someone who is insanely hard to shop for.

This past year we just exchanged cards. We usually go on a trip somewhere as a joint gift, but didn't since we had a small baby. I know you said a trip would be too expensive, but would you be able to go somewhere kind of close for a weekend getaway?

We haven't had one yet, but we're taking a trip to NYC, so we probably won't buy many gifts!

@Boogs: unfortunately no. We recently had a baby and bought a house. And in the next couple of months we'll both be having surgery which means paying both of our deductibles which will be $4000. So.... we're pretty broke!

the past few times, we've celebrated with a trip. this past may, we went to greece. this may, not sure what we're going to do since we'll have our 2 kids. maybe just dinner out?

For our second anniversary, we stayed overnight in a hotel in town and took a dinner cruise on the lake. We prefer not to give "things" unless they are something specific that the other person wants.

I love the idea of a hammock because it's something that will be used over and over again and it works with the 2nd anniversary cotton theme! For our 1st anniversary I got DH tickets to see his favorite band in concert (paper). I don't know that we will do gifts for our 2nd anniversary because we are thinking of going on a mini-vacation.

We just went out to diner. We had family up so we didnt really have time for much, or even to go out shoping to get gifts. I think this year I am going to get him/us one of those 2-3 day local cruises.
