We're planning Vi's first birthday party (agh she's growing up!!!) and I just realized that I have no idea what gift to get her.
She already has a walker and an activity cube. I don't want to get anything really big like a play kitchen or a learning tower because we'll be moving soon.
What was your LO's first birthday gift?

@Arden: we got Sadie a chair that was on clearance at Target. It's an anywhere chair-beanbag hybrid. I gave it to her already, because she loved it & I can't say no.

hmmmm... i don't think we got either kid anything? charlie had a party so he got plenty of gifts. olive was happy with charlie's toys.
but i can tell you that the baby einstein alphabooks were charlie's favorite gift from his first birthday... even more than the toys!

We bought him blocks, though his birthday is still 4 months away. They were on sale, so I bought them early.

Nothing. The party and the gifts they both got were more that enough. For my girl I kind of wanted it get get some jewelry she could wear like forever but I didn't do it.

we got him megablocks, lp farm, and rocking giraffe that i got major deals on. we were going to get him a kitchen, but decided to wait on it because he received so amny gifts from friends and fmaily.

We got DS a Step 2 push around car for in the summer. He loves it and we can use it for a while. It's says 18-48 months but DS was fine in it at 12 months.

We got her the Melissa and Doug baby grand piano because she loves music and loved the baby pianos she had. She plays with it almost every day! She's such a little diva - she plays a bit and then waits for us to applaud her. If we don't applaud her in time, she applauds herself and keeps playing lol

We got her a floor tom with mallets. She loves that thing...although now she uses it to climb up on to other objects.

A party? Lol. We didn't get him anything. Although, his birthday is 3 days after Christmas so that played a factor this year since he didn't know/care....

We got her a small plastic red wagon because DH insisted that we had to get her a gift. It really would have been fine for us it not get her anything. She got so many presents from others!

We didn't get LO anything because we threw him a huge party! He got too many gifts... We saved some and gave them to him at Xmas per the reco of some bees!

A play kitchen with play food. But I ended up not giving her all of the food. She's 1½ now and I still haven't brought it all out. I'm waiting until she's 2+ or when she knows how to play with them.

I think we'll get her a set of wooden blocks. And a bedroom of her own- thats the big gift (but we might move her sooner than a year, still undecided). I'm so excited about it!
ETA: I'm asking family for a membership to the local kids science museum, a parks pass, and a convertible car seat!

We got her an activity cube, the B Parum Pum drum set (which she loves and still plays with nearly a year later), and a little armchair.
Other people got her wooden blocks and floor mats, which have also been awesome.

PB Kids Anywhere Chair. It was money well spent - he uses it all the time...refuses to drink his milk anywhere else! (And when he's not in it, the cat is!)

We got a lunchbox (which she needed for daycare anyway), a melissa & doug hammer/ball box, and a book! She got tons of stuff so we didn't feel the need to go all out, and it worked out great.

L's birthday party is Saturday and I bought him a Vtech car carrier thing when it was on lightning deals around the holidays. And today's Kid Woot is a portable collapsable high chair and I bought that b/c it was a great price and I think we'll use it a lot this summer at the beach.

A shape sorter, a couple of books (Tails was the biggest hit), a couple of Jellycat toys..... We had a family photo shoot too and party. I was worried that since our family is all overseas that she wouldn't get anything but actually she got a ton!

Other than her party, she got a Rockabye ladybug rocker, a Kidkraft kitchen and a kid's music cd for our upcoming road trip. For other ideas, she got a little suitcase with light-up wheels from one set of grandparents and a Step2 whisper ride buggy from the other. She also loved her music toys and cars from aunts/uncles. In less exciting (for her) news, she got her convertible carseat.

They both got huge parties! In our culture we throw big celebrations for the first birthday. They both got huge gifts from the grandparents so we didn't feel the need to get them a toy or anything.

I'm potentially getting him an elephant rocker from @mrs. wagon: if we ever get a chance to meetup, haha. But other than that, I think I'll do what @Mrs. Blue: is doing and buy him some books!
