My grandma got me this tape when I was little and I still have it and play it every year on my birthday, so we got the DVD version for my LO.

bookmarking this thread.. I am already thinking about this too!!
I'm thinking of something from Etsy because it supports local, small businesses (and sometimes SAHMs!), and usually the quality is great.
Here are some of my ideas:
A wooden train set: http://www.etsy.com/listing/88708771/lumber-train-set-with-hand-painted
ABC block set: http://www.etsy.com/listing/62666908/alphabet-blocks-wooden-toy-building?ref=usr_faveitems&atr_uid=8643609
Owl crayons:

Wooden toy animals: http://www.etsy.com/listing/84545825/pick-any-three-wooden-toy-animals-wood?ref=usr_faveitems&atr_uid=8643609
Noahs Ark - I've had my eye on this since I got pregnant. I LOVE it: http://www.etsy.com/listing/36011546/noahs-ark
Bowling pin set:

Land of Nod also has a firefighter truck and station that is to die for that I want to get him too. I don't mind toys when they are high quality, safe - I love wooden toys.
But the plastic fisher price stuff? I'd rather not have in my house lol I didn't even buy him any toys, yet he has a full bin full of them!
Oh! and I found this yesterday- AMAZING. Edible fingerpaint that has no artificial dyes - it's dyed by spinach, beets, pumpkin and blueberries! So awesome

And these blankets are incredible. IDK if it's a good birthday gift, but I seriously need an excuse to buy it for him because I love it. This etsy seller makes her own fabrics and they are Organic jersey cotton. They're so amazing.

DS's birthday is coming up soon too. He doesnt have a lot of toys so we've been trying to find some. We've already bought some books and a pack of "one, two, squeeze" blocks from Target. My dad bought an Alphabet Train by Vtech. That's all we have so far. We'll probably get some clothes too.

2 convertible car seats - one for each car. We also got him a few clothes, but we figured family would give him plenty.
From family he got a swing, a slide, and a crazy coupe car. (His birthday was in March, so it was coming up on the good weather.) He loves all of them and has used them so much this summer. Other than that it was mainly books and a few small toys. He got a lot for Christmas (wood blocks, a walker/music thing that he can push, books, simple puzzles) and most of that he hadn't even used yet.

@mrstilly: oooh good idea on the car!! DH wants to get DS one of those lol and his birthday is end of February so by summer it will be perfect.

@Coco Bee: DS goes NUTS over it. He cannot pass by it without getting it and it's a fight to put it away. He will spend hours getting in and out, walking around it, pushing it or going backwards since he hasn't figured out how to go forward. They also make a little truck version.

I am totally in love with this rocking horse - http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/nursery-horse-rocker/?pkey=e%7Crocking%2Bhorse%7C13%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C3&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-NoMerchRules-_-
I'm just not sure I can wait until her first birthday. PBK tends to have items come and go and I'd be heartbroken if she doesn't have it. I think I might get it for her for Christmas instead, although she won't really be able to use it until she's closer to 1 anyway. Maybe I'll order it and keep in wrapped up in our basement until next summer. lol

I get this Puzzle Name Stool for all the nieces & nephews for their first birthday so I'll be getting it for M!
Besides that don't know what else.
Anyone else doing a Amazon wishlist? There are toys I prefer that I'd rather she get than other ones that I don't like...
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@regberadaisy: oooh I didn't think of that... I guess I just figure word of mouth letting people know what we'd like??
Is it conceited or "expecting gifts" if you say you have an amazon wishlist for your LO? Do you put that on the invite?

@Coco Bee: that's what I'm wondering too! I just know the ILs will buy her a whole ton of toys that I may or may not like. ie not very "educational" etc. So if they were spending the money anyway why not be something we the parents agree with?
But I have NO idea how you even approach that. For now I have her wish list public.

@regberadaisy: I know that my mom/DH's mom wouldn't be offended... so I wonder I could ask them to tell people, if they ask?!

@chrispygal: I love that rocking horse!
@mrstilly: I think grandma is getting her the cozy coupe.. which I'm excited about.
I think I want to do something like this..
http://www.hellobee.com/2012/01/09/forts-and-tee-pees/
and I'm going to make a kitchen for her for christmas.

both of which she won't outgrow any time soon.

@Coco Bee: DS got it from my in-laws, so I'm not sure where they purchased it.

We got her a Pottery Barn Anywhere chair. Both she and the dog love it
My parents got her a water table, and Hubs's parents got her a shopping cart and some soft fruits/veggies.
She is still loving them all, 5 months later.
