I'll be getting my maternity pics done within the next few weeks (around 31-32 weeks) and I'm starting to think about what to wear. I live in tanks and maxi skirts. What do you girls advise?

i didn't get maternity photos (sad), but i would have worn one of my color-block shirts that hugged the belly with jeans or pants, and a dress as another outfit.
if you feel most comfortable in tanks/skirts, you should go for it if there is a set you feel like is "nice" for photos! i think the side-ruched tanks are super flattering to bellies.
have fun!

It's a million degrees here, so I wore a hi-low dress from Target
http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-women-s-kimono-high-low-dress-assorted-colors/-/A-14252719 but I wish I had worn something a little bit more fitted, because if I wasn't holding under my belly the wind made my dress blow out and I looked HUGE.
If I decide to take more when it gets cooler, I plan to wear something like the bottom two

My favorite thing for people to wear to maternity shoots is long dresses. I've also had jeans or short skirts and that's fine-- but I think there is something super feminine about a long dress and it makes your profile so nice. My only advice-- don't wear a tank unless you love your arms. Not that many people *actually* like their arms in pics and it would suck if that ruined them for you.
My last maternity shoot the mom wore a maxi skirt and tank with a cardigan and I thought she looked fabulous!

definitely something somewhat fitted around the belly i live in tanks and maxi skirts as well! i don't love my arms but it can be positioned to look more flattering in pictures hahaha

@Mae: I'll probably end up wearing a cardigan if it cools down a bit. I haaaaaaaate my arms! Wah wah
@MrsTiz: I wish I looked like the girls in those last 2 pics!
@edelweiss: this is my inspiration photo (from the outfit to setting):

I had a few different outfits.
Black maxi skirt with a fitted ruched striped top
Fitted ruched striped knee-length dress
Skinny jeans, striped top, puffer vest and snow boots.
White linen pants with sparkly striped sweater (ok I love stripes)

@Ash: Forealz, I want the blonde girls hair!
@Mrs. Pen: Oooh you had BEAUTIFUL pictures! My favorites were the tight dress! I don't think I saw your puffer vest ones? #imacreepforrememberingthat

@MrsTiz: hahaha! That's awesome. You know I bought that dress for the photos and returned it after, I still wish I had kept it! I looved that dress. I felt so sexy and goddess-like haha!

@MrsTiz: bahaha thanks girlie;)
oh this is my vest pic. It was December so it was super cold!

I second the comment about wearing a cardigan versus showing your arms unless you love them. I hate that I didn't wear a cardigan with my dress photos. And pick an outfit that you love! I just put something together at the last minute and I didn't love it. I wish I would've specially shopped for something more flattering.

@marionberry: I need a personal shopper!
@Mrs. Pen: I love your pics!! Will you shop for me?
@looch: I can't forget accessories. I never wear them!

@Ash: I wore a $15 maxi dress from Forever 21 My thighs were my pregnancy problem area so I wanted something that would hide them! Plus, I love the way maxi dresses/skirts look in maternity pics.

@Ash: I wish I'd spent more time picking stuff out... I did two outfits - a short sleeve ruched tshirt dress with purple tights and flats, and then red pants & a grey/white striped tshirt. Bright colors + bump were my focus!

I wore a green dress from Motherhood Maternity. It was $19ish.

I wore a fitted knit dress that I already had and was really comfortable in because it wasn't too billowy. Anything a-line or billowy makes me feel ginormous!

@MrsTiz: you are seriously gorgeous and look like a total earth mama goddess with your flowing blonde hair!
@Mrs. Pen: so, so, so adorable! Your photographer was really talented and you guys look so blissfully happy
@lawbee: I love that dress (stripes FTW!) and especially love the silhouette pic

I wore two outfits (and had to change outside in front of everyone)-here are a couple pics. I liked wearing something tight to show the bump, but also comfy.

I wore four outfits... whoops! haha! Two tunic-type tops with leggings, and then a denim skirt, one with my It's A Girl shirt and one with a more fitted tee. It was SO. HOT. I got my pictures done fairly early (24 or 25 weeks I think?) because of travel timing with my photog friend! I think the heat made my decisions for me more than anything.

@MamaMagpie: holy gorgeous you DEFINITELY were pulling that dress off!

@tlcbaby: I also had to do the change-in-front-of-everyone thing. It was so awkward! Especially since it was like 100 degrees... I think I would have preferred to just lose the dang clothes by the end!

I wore a black and white dress that I also wore for my shower with a pink cardigan and yellow shoes.
Man, looking back on these reminds me how swollen my face got. It was hard to even smile. HA!

@MrsTiz: Hey, I just call 'em like I seem 'em
@kjpugs: Aww thank you so much! I felt really comfortable in it, and am super happy with the pics, but it was looking at them that made me realize just how BIG I was! And that was six weeks ago so now I'm reeeaaaally big

I wore a dress from Target, one from Forever21 and just some casual clothes. Looking back, the dresses probably should have been more fitted so that I didn't have to keep accentuating the bump!
