Did your company hire a temp? My boss thought about it a few times but never pulled the trigger.

Or spread around your tasks to counterparts? Yes, the other three people in my office split up my duties.

Or did your manager or another non-counterpart person take over your work load? Two of the people that took over some of my duties are my superiors.

Did your maternity leave cause significant hardship or costly expenses for company? I wouldn't say so. It was challenging with my out, but I wouldn't say it was a significant hardship and nothing costly occurred. They were glad to have me back, though!!! (Yesterday was my first day back)

We had a contractor who had been supporting another area and was going to have her support of that area end right around my due date, so she was transitioned into supporting my business area. She's now been brought on as a FT employee so I think it worked out for both of us!

My department spread my tasks around. My supervisor took on a bunch, it was funny to have to train her because she was like, "Why does this take so long?" Yes, now you know when you expect me to do something in 10 minutes that is not feasible. Luckily I left right before our slower summer period. Our office manager, a counterpart of mine, and our consultants took on some of the other work.

It will be extra work for my coworkers, but the nature of our jobs is set up so that even when we're all here, everything we work on has two people assigned so if someone is out or not able to get to it, there is backup. We also have a pretty large team so spreading out teh work will be easy.

The president of the company wanted my boss to hire a temp, but since I was "Coming Back" my boss thought it would be better to distribute my work to everyone else.
My maternity leave is up this week and I'm returning part time from home. I will resume some duties and the others will remain with my coworkers.

My tasks were assigned to someone who already served as my back-up. It didn't cost anything additional but they were very happy to have me back (my back-up was counting down the days until my return).

My work is being split amongst about 9 or 10 other people based on their specialty field. After all, they each have their own full time jobs and mine should not be a huge burden for them.

We have a temp already working on our department, so he is going to do most of my stuff when I am out. Then a couple other people will do the rest.

Some of my responsibilities were spread around. A temp was also hired to do the rest.
