I'm pretty sure that for the first 4-6 months I will want my newborn sleeping in my room, in some type of cradle or bassinet. I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on what to use.
Some things I have been considering:
A bassinet (Babyletto),
A convertible crib / bassinet (Argington),
A rock n play (fisher price)
Any advice / ideas?

The rock n play / bouncy seat / swing is all that she would tolerate. The crib and bassinet went unused

E just slept in the regular bassinet attachment of the pack and play. I wanted to get the arms reach cosleeper at first, but couldn't justify the extra expense.

We bought an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper but ended up in our bed because it was the only place he WOULD sleep. .

Rock and play. I love that its so light and easy to move from room to room. In the beginning I'd just move it with her in it if she was napping and I had to shower or go to the kitchen or whatever (probably you aren't supposed to move it with her in it though). She's been in the crib for a week now as I think we are going to have to go back to the RnP because she may have some reflux. She also hangs out in it and looks out the window giving us time to have breakfast or coffee. (Se hates every other baby holder, swing, bouncy chair...) So I like that its useful beyond just sleeping in the very beginning. Plus sometimes if she fussed at night I could just rock her back to sleep before se totally woke up.

Basinette. We only had a tiny swing and my husband was really against motion sleep.
There was no way to buy a rock and play at the time (lived abroad) so I had no choice really.

She slept in a bassinet for 3 months and then we moved her. She could probably have slept in it until she was 6 months but I was going back to work and we wanted to get a system down beforehand.
I wouldn't have her sleep in the rock n play as her primary place to sleep. I would go with a device designed for sleeping, a crib or a co-sleeper or a bassinet.

We had an Arm's Reach cosleeper, but she didn't sleep much/ very well unless she was in my arms, on my chest, or being worn in a sling.

A bassinet in our room for the first 4 weeks. Then we couldn't take his nighttime noises so we moved him to his crib in his room

We used an Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper for 5.5 months and it worked out great for us.

Xander slept in a bassinet in our room for the first 3 months. We liked it a lot because it was on wheels so we could just wheel it into the living room during the day and wheel it back into our room at night. It also could be converter to a rocker, which was so helpful some nights!

DS slept in the bassinet part of the pack n play for 5 weeks. Then we moved him to his crib. Would have been sooner but we needed to get the mattress first. Everyone slept better when he moved!

We LOVED the rock'n'play. M slept in it next to our bed for 3 months and then in it in her nursery for another 2 months. I love that you can rock them to sleep (she needed a lot of rocking!) and then not have to transfer them and potentially wake them up. It folds up easily too. We took it to my parents, etc for overnights. I rocked it with my foot while I ate Christmas dinner! We didn't have any trouble transitioning to a crib once she was ready either. Basically just rocked her less and less each night.

LO slept in a bassinet but we moved her at 4ish weeks into her crib because she was a noisy sleeper

swing, pnp, & boppy nb lounger (tsk tsk) but it worked for us.
we transitioned him into a crib fulltime in his room for nighttime sleep at 11 weeks.
he slept thru the night since then and also naps in there now as well. (he napped in the swing til four months, and in the pnp downstairs until 7 months) he's 9.5 mths now.

Rock 'n' play until 5.5 months, in our room. He would never sleep in the swing or bounser. I often wore him in the Ergo and he would fall asleep in there too.

We are setting up a Moses basket on a rocking stand in our room and have a swing in the living room. If those fail, we'll look into the Rock-n-play or just switching her to the crib.

i had imagined that LO would be sleeping in my room for at least 3 months. he slept in the pack n play bassinet attachment next to my bed for all of 2 whopping weeks before i decided i couldn't sleep with him in the same room (all his noises kept me on high alert and i wasn't getting any sleep even when he was sleeping) and moved him to the crib in his nursery. because of this unexpectedly short amount of time, i would suggest something inexpensive or something that can convert to a crib for long-term use.

We had the Arm's Reach co-sleeper because I had gifted it to my sister and she gifted it back to me. We might've used the rock n' play if we didn't have it, but it is more crib-like so I don't anticipate we'll have any difficulty transitioning E when we're ready. (knock on wood, heh)

Arms reach cosleeper as well! Loved having him so close (although he did end up in my bed some after I would fall asleep nursing him). We switched him to the crib in his room at 5.5 months because he started bucking around and waking us up! He transitioned really smoothly to his crib.

We have used the Boppy pillow since birth and she still sleeps on it at 5.5 months old in her crib.
She has slept 10 to 12 hours through the night in this since 6 weeks old. Previous to that we only had 1 wake up.
I am the biggest fan of the Boppy pillow for more than feeding and tummy time activities.
My two youngest slept in Boppy's and they are a godsend.

DS was in the pack n play for the first. 4 months. DD is currently in the pack n play at night as well. She'll be in it for at least the first 3 months

we used the phil and teds nest on a table next to the bed until around 3 months, when he grew too tall for it! at that point we moved him to his own crib and room, which was just across the hallway from us at that point
for LO#2 we're thinking of just using a portacot (i think that's the same thing as a pack n play) in our room until LO#1 is ready to sleep in a floor bed. we're hoping to avoid buying another crib!
