@junebugmama: I think that's what messed me up too. Most of my friends are from work, so we have similar salaries. I was really shocked to see that median income was $30k less than I thought it was.

@Shutterbug: Speaking of which, I just looked up the median family income for your town - holy sh*t!!! That's even higher than the N town with the good schools we'd like to live in!

@winniebee: rt 2? the only town I can think with that spelling is on 20?

@JoJoGirl: yuuuup - the only way I'm ever going to live there again is if I move back in with my parents, haha

.@PurplePumps: @JoJoGirl: @Shutterbug: Ok I might be wrong then - was thinking of a town near a town that rhymes with Woncord.

Wow, I didnt realize there was so many MA here! I work in that town! I love drooling at the houses around there, especially their boarding W neighbors..

@Grace: After I wrote that I kind of felt like an ass, but I don't think any of us would say we were rich. Some of us are still living paycheck to paycheck. I think regardless of what you make, you could always use more! LOL

@JoJoGirl: hahahaha ok stop! as long as no one can google this, find me IRL and read about my TTCing!

@junebugmama: Oh, I did too. I'm now going to feel guilty every time I think about winning the lottery.
@Shutterbug: Oh, you are so doomed.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Shutterbug: I don't think many people google Woncord, but I can edit my post if you like!
I live the next town over from Boston and it's a wealthy town where some famous people live... I'm not one of them : )

@winniebee: hahaha no, I think you're good. And I sort of like the idea of someone accidentally typing "Woncord" and finding this thread

I would say that middle class is probably $100K a household.
I'd say that $150-200K household income is upper middle class.
To me- "rich" means yachts and a regular wardrobe of Christian Louboutins. So it's hard for me to wrap my head around saying that "rich" is above the $200K range since that is not yacht/$800 shoe range....But $200K is certainly very comfortable. I just don't know where "rich" starts....

@PrincessBaby: Agree re: rich!
To me, upper middle class is having money in the bank, a house/condo of some sort, meeting monthly obligations, going on vacations, and maybe even having a vacation home....but not living lavishly necessarily.

@JoJoGirl: A certain green line train runs through the middle of this town : )
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Haha okay. I didn't know famous people live there! I'm not far from you guys either
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@winniebee: Exactly! I think it would take at lot more than the numbers we're talking on here to be able to live lavish! But agree that upper middle class is living well - decently liquid, nice home, vacations, and not really having to worry about finances.

We live in a small blue collar town. Median income is 50k and an average house is close to 300k.
Which in short, is why we are still renting. We might be on the low end if middle class, but we aren't in debt.

@Shutterbug: that's a house?? It looks like a school. Or a wedding venue.
