Hellobee Boards

I use a lot of bribes, my kids will take regular pain relievers fine, but usually meds from the doctor are a HUGE battle, due to taste. I get them to drink a sip fast and then they get a bite of candy. Repeat that as necessary. Don't feel bad though, you just want her to feel better!

I know I shouldn't, but I mix it in a 1/3-1/4 cup of apple juice. That's the only way to get it in my son. Otherwise it's a huge fight, and the mess gets all over the place.

Um... I pin DS down and squirt a little at a time into his mouth via a syringe. Otherwise, it ain't happening. Not proud of it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I was trying to give my son medicine on the spoon, but he asked for the cup, because he can control how much of it he takes at a time. So now, we do that, with water and then some kind of chocolate treat right after.

The syringe worked wonders when my son was small, but now, that is no longer an option.

Poor B started early with ear infections, so he usually knows medicine will make him feel better. He only objected to one antibiotic... can't remember which one but it was white and chalky looking. He still took it but wanted something tasty to chase it.

E is not shy about spitting out stuff she doesn't like, and sometimes even stuff she likes (for laughs). So when she was sick we had to hold her down and squirt medications in her mouth. And if she thought they were extra nasty, they came up again real soon

LO is currently on antibiotics for an ear infection. It was such a struggle until this weekend when we did some role play. He is Peppa pig and I am Dr. Brown Bear. He has taken his medicine like an angel ever since! Peppa to the rescue!!

It is so hard, I had an episode like that too, mainly because the doc prescribed a really yucky medication (antibiotic) that he threw up after taking, and then he refused all meds (tynerol) altogether, thanks to that doctor. That doc was the stand in doc for our regular doctor, and I hate him to this date. I remember someone from the Hellobee message boards suggested saying the medication is Winnie The Pooh's honey. That actually worked for us. I told him the motrin is Winnie The Pooh's honey, and Tynerol is some other fancy sweet treat I forgot what I said it was.
