When you open up a new loaf of bread, what do you do with the heel of the loaf? I always saved it so that the pieces in the actual loaf didn't go bad, and then I toss them when I finish the loaf. Hubs uses it right away, which annoys me because then the actual piece of bread on the end gets stale!

Keep them until the end and then toss it. Unless we're completely out of bread, then DH will eat a sandwich with the ends.

We keep it until the rest of the loaf is gone and then eat it. Waste not, want not!

I'm not a fan of the heel, but we don't buy bread often. We use sandwich thins most of the time!

I never knew the keeping it until you are done to keep the rest from getting stale trick until I moved in with my husband. He did not understand how I could not know that already!
So yes, that's what we do, then, sometimes I'll eat it if we are out of bread, sometimes I toss it. We don't buy bread all the time anyway.
