My LO is 11 months old and crawls like crazy and pulls up on everything. We used to be able to put her in the exersaucer and get stuff done in the kitchen but now she's too big for it. She doesn't love her high chair for very long...any ideas on how to keep her occupied / safe while I cook?

I put my LO in her pnp. sometimes she's mad, but...our kitchen is absolutely not baby proof. it's very small, too. i usually will put on mickey mouse clubhouse if she's really annoyed about the pnp, but sometimes she'll read quietly!

Our kitchen has one opening, so we have a large gate up to keep her out. I don't know what we would do without it!

We have a big open kitchen so there's no keeping her out... so we babyproofed the cabinets and oven and we have a few big toys in there. Right now her activity table. We used to have the play kitchen in the kitchen..!

We baby proofed it and let him crawl and get into stuff. We have some open shelves under our island that he loves to pull everything off of. I locked cabinets that I don't want him getting into. There are two caninets he's allowed in and likes to pull stuff out of them. Otherwise sometimes the highchair with Cheerios will distract him for a bit.

we bought some oversized melissa and doug ABC magnets for our fridge! we sometimes keep him in the high chair or pnp in the living room (open floor plan), but we try to let him roam around mostly. we have the drawers babyproofed, except one that has plastic bowls.

We have it mostly baby proofed but have a few cabinets that they are allowed in to mess around. And I cleared off the bottom shelf of the pantry for just their snacks, cups, and some kitchen stuff they like to play with (big plastic spoons, a folgers tub, etc).

I hand her some cooking utensils (whisk, wooden spoon, spatula, whatever is close and seems baby friendly) and she usually keeps herself occupied by banging it/eating it for a good while. She has started twirling them around which makes me laugh and that just makes her do it more

Our kitchen is baby friendly so she pulls up on and bangs on a stool. I am going to pull together a few things for her to play with soon. Like wooden spoons, spatulas, plastic containers, etc. She mostly just likes to crawl and follow me around while I prepare meals.

We usually just tell her, "No-no-no..." and she doesn't crawl in. It's not exactly baby proof and it's always dirty because our dogs come in and out of the doggy door, so they are always dragging dirt in!

We baby proofed the cabinet under the sink with all the chemicals and dish soap, a few other cabinets, and then let her play in the Tupperware and pots and pans drawers.

I had a drawer where he could play with the things in there, mostly plastic bowls and cups. Then he started putting them behind the cabinet so we got him a small table. He would scoop oatmeal or stick things in play dough over there. Eventually, we let him make salads over there, lol. He'd lick all the crutons, then put them in the salad.

I'm hitting this too, I used to just put her in the highchair with toys or a snack but now she is not having that. I try toys but she usually wants me, not good.

I forgot, we have magnets too....they especially love the photo frame ones with pictures of themselves!

We also have a baby drawer full of plastic tupperware, tiny pots and pans, spoons, etc. I open it for her and sit her down and she will take things out, bang/wave them around, and put things back. When she gets bored of it she will crawl to the living room and back. The only times this doesn't work is when she pulls up on me and whines to get picked up...

@looch: Hahaha - the croutons thing is killing me!
We do what lots of others mentioned: let him hang out and play with kitchen stuff (utensils, plastic plates/bowls, etc). He loves that stuff!

We have magnets on the fridge and dishwasher that he enjoys pulling off and throwing onto the floor. He also likes to open the cabinets with the mixing bowls and take them all out. A lot of the time he wants to SEE what I'm doing/cooking so I put him in the back carrier so he's up high and can see better. I also put him in his high chair and let him play with cookie cutters/cooking utensils. Ill face his chair towards me and turn on music so that he can see me and if he starts getting fussy ill dance.

I agree w/ @Running Elley - magnets worked really well. I also let her play with the Tupperware cabinet, and made the island "her" space so she would climb in and out of the cabinets while I got dinner ready.

Give her Tupperware, utensils (wooden spoons, spatula) and a salad spinner and she's good for about 40 mins

@woohoo585: when all else fails I put her on my back in the ergo carrier. Otherwise i give her small pot and a wooden spoon and she drums away

I taught DS to stay out of the kitchen. We had a galley kitchen when he was that age and somehow he understood that he was not allowed to cross the line into it. Sometimes I would set him on the counter top (next to a wall) and give him a few plastic spoons/cups to play with while I did prep stuff.

I give him tupperware to play with...that usually occupies him.
