DH and I were talking about how we are super late on getting a gift for his best friend's daughter's 1st birthday. No excuses, we are awful! We have been going crazy about what to get his daughter and figured we would do something for her half birthday. Our question is what do you get the toddler who has everything? To put it bluntly, her parents are very well off and she wants for nothing. We also don't live in the same state so we don't know what she has. I was trying to figure out something great (not necessarily expensive) and sentimental but am coming up short. Unfortunately, I can't do something super crafty with pictures and all that since I don't have those. I thought I would turn to the bee to see if anyone has any great ideas. Thanks!!!!

maybe 'stuff that runs out'? such as art supplies -- the regular stuff like paint and clay, etc. but also maybe craft kits for making small figurines out of fimo, or jewelery kits, that kind of stuff?

for a sentimental touch you could maybe find yours and dh's favourite childhood books, and then affix a beautiful book plate sticker/label to the inside dedicating the book to the girl, and explaining why the book is special to you

I love books as gifts. I like to give a book that my kids really love. If you want to spend a bit more, there are some gorgeous versions of classic books (I love this one, it's amazing inside: http://www.amazon.com/Wind-Willows-Sterling-Illustrated-Classics/dp/1402782837/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_y). Maybe you could do one that's age appropriate and a lovely one to grow into.

I usually do books. I'm also loving gift subscriptions to things like Citrus Lane. For our LO's second birthday my friends and I got eachothers children Highlights and Babybug magazine subscriptions...Highlights has one geared towards 0-2 year olds and Babybug is 6mo-3yrs. Both magazines for the younger set come with tear proof pages.
