A lot! A few restaurants, starbucks, a yogurt/ice cream place, a small deli/produce store, gas station, post office, a few shops, bakery, laundromat (actually a nice one!), and a park less than a block away. We don't live in the nicest place in that area but we chose our apartment for the location, definitely.

We have a park that is within walking distance, but not a short walk. I have walked there with my dogs (it also has a dog park area), but not with the baby yet. I'm sure I will this summer!
My favorites things that are walking distance are: Trader Joe's (5 minute walk, it's amazing), Whole Foods, our favorite sushi restaurant, Menchie's frozen yogurt, Target (15 min walk), and lots of other shops and restaurants. Even though we live in LA, where everyone drives everywhere, it's nice to be able to walk to some places.
Oh, I forgot our church is walking distance! They have a preschool we'd like to send L to (they also have K-8, but it'll be too expensive for us). The public elementary school is right next door to the church, so it's also close enough to walk!

Lots! It was one of my hubby's requirements that there be a coffee shop within walking distance. And where there is coffee, there is other stuff. So we have coffee shop, pharmacy, grocery store, pizza place, gas station, 7-11, 3 parks, all three levels of schools, church, ice cream shop, bowling, pub, and 3/4 of a mile is a really big mall too. I love it!

The beach, post office, coffee shop, library, a few restaurants and shops, pharmacy, the primary and middle schools, and my parents' house lol - pretty good for the 'burbs'! One of the big reasons we chose to buy our house was it's proximity to all these places. It's nice to be able to walk when you feel like it!

Another city dweller here. Within a 15min walking radius we have LO's daycare, 2 parks, 3 grocery stores, 2 metro stops, a train station inside a mall and a number of shops and restaurants. Sometimes I feel like I live only within this little bubble since everything is so close!

A dunkin donuts and dry cleaners about 1.2 miles down the road, then nothing for a while.
