@lady baltimore: Sounds like returning items and getting something you actually want or will use is a good strategy but I totally understand your frustration. Not everyone can be super thoughtful but school supplies as a gift for multiple occasions is very lazy. I would be frustrated too.

I feel like handmade soaps are a big gift category. But I never use bar soap, always liquid, so I'm sitting on a big stockpile of fancy soaps I'll never use.
