We're having a baby girl in March but are having troubles thinking of names. Our key criteria is that it NOT be common, we'd prefer to stay out of the top 200, because our last name is EXTREMELY common, and want to help baby girl not have multiple people in her class having the same name (first and last!) like my SIL did with her common first and the same last name as me.

The next criteria is that it be classic. I really love classic names, but sadly those are usually pretty common. So i need it to be classic, not too hard to spell/pronounce, but also not too common.

So, given those criteria, what do you think of Edie? It's the nickname for Edith, which i'm not a huge fan of, but some people have Edie as their full name, not short for anything.

Is it too weird to have a "nickname" as a real name? Can people pronounce it? (E-dee)
