R gets bit so often. Two big bites yesterday. They are swollen and she is itching them like crazy.

I don't have an LO but I generally don't keep calomine around so I use toothpaste! Not the gel kind, the white kind. Once it dries the itch is gone, just dab a little bit on the bite and see if you can keep her from touching it for about 10 mins. My dad's camping remedy

We use calamine lotion.

Calamine or hydrocortisone! Basically just what I use on myself and the calamine is working better...

Vinegar. It sounds crazy but it does stop the itch and soothe. I use it for all of my itches now. Also baking soda compresses if the vinegar isn't helping.

Hydrocortisone cream. It also helps with the redness and swelling.

Coconut oil, vinegar or therapeutic lavender oil with coconut oil. J stuck her hand in an ant pile yesterday
but the lavender and coconut oil have helped a ton. She hasn't scratched, they don't seem to bug her and the swelling & redness is almost gone.

After bite for kids, it is mostly mint and baking soda.

We use Aveeno Anti-Itch (the one with calamine and pramoxine)-- it was what our ped recommended (DD is almost 2). I also sometimes but bandaids over a bug bite if it is really swollen and she won't stop scratching.

I need to try some of these. I've been getting a ton of bites this summer and hydrocortisone doesn't seem to last long.
