It's my first Mother's Day and although we are planning a nice Sunday brunch out with my mom and MIL, I'd also like to do something special to celebrate the fact that it's MY first Mother's Day. DH asked what I wanted/wanted to do (other than brunch) and I didn't have an answer for him! Any good ideas? What are you ladies doing? What is the best Mother's Day gift you have received (other than a baby sleeping through the night and getting to sleep in hahah)?

I'm hosting a brunch for my mom and sister. I really enjoy family time so that's all I've got planned.

Hopefully go on a nice family bike ride, go out to brunch, maybe play in a park. All the things I generally enjoy.

i would love a spa day. a facial in particular! but i'd also love to do a little family trip away.

It's my first Mother's Day, but still want to focus on our moms first. I'd love to get a gift the day of, but then maybe have a special day the following weekend.
ETA: I'd really like a bottle of Light Blue perfume...I only gave DH the idea (and a sample) 3 holidays ago...
For the special day, brunch would be nice, a walk with DH and DD, and a special dinner at home.

This is my second mother's day, but last year LO was in the NICU so we didn't get to celebrate other than to enjoy snuggles with our new baby (which was awesome!), but this year I really want to get outside and do something as a family. I asked DH today if we could plan to go for a walk at one of our favorite trails and eat at a favorite fun restaurant the day before. We will do that and invite the ILs to come along if they would like. We might do something with my parents the next day since we go to church with them.

We are going to brunch with both sets of parents and friends. It is also my 31st birthday. There is a necklace that I have been waiting for years. I first saw it in Houston almost 4 years ago. We don't usually exchange gifts but I wanted it as a memento for having our daughter this year.

I want to stay in PJs all day and watch movies and cuddle with DD. DH wants to host mothers day at our house... so PJs all day is out. I was thinking maybe we can go to the zoo.

I have a gift card to a nice spa that I got for my flippin' bridal shower that still has yet to be redeemed.
My plan is to take advantage of it at some point, that week/weekend. On Mother's Day, I'd just love to have a picnic outside, and relax in the sunshine. A clean house I didn't have to make so would be lovely. Time with our moms at some point, for sure. I linked my husband to a calligraphy book and set of pens I'd like, but I don't really have my heart set on any particular gift. Just wanna chill and have an easy day.

I told my husband what I really wanted was for him to have made plans and not to say "well, where do you want to go to brunch?" It's my first Mother's Day with my son and we accepted his referral last Mother's Day so I am very excited, even though I am usually not sentimental about holidays.

A gc for a prenatal massage to use in the second trimester would be awesome. Or a new diaper bag since mine kind of sucks and I'll need one for two soon enough.
For my first Mother's Day Dh got me a locket, but wasn't able to print out pictures small enough and I still haven't- oops. Maybe I'll do that before this Mother's Day.

I want an uninterrupted nap & happy kids! But really, I don't know what we will do... We have stuff with my mom & mil to celebrate them so there's not a whole lot of wiggle room for other stuff.

For a physical gift, I already told DH what I want which is a bracelet w/ DD's initial on it, and I'm debating if I want this journal for DD... It's only a few lines allotted for each day and each page/day is designed for 5 years. But I don't know if it's weird to start now, or maybe I should wait to get it and start on her 1st birthday...
We're doing brunch with my mom on Sat. I think maybe I'd just want to get a mani/pedi.. I haven't had one since I gave birth almost 5 mo ago!

I just want to be with DH and DD. We'll probably go to the botanical gardens, they have a free concert every year.

Haha I can't do anything- it's the day before finals week!! I don't really want or need anything right now. I will enjoy a break once this semester is over

A house? We made an offer on our first home right before our anniversary and it got accepted before my birthday and it looks like we'll close right before Mother's Day so I guess that's what I'm getting?
We need to buy a new washer/dryer and a new fridge so that will probably be my "gift." Maybe if DH insists, a Longchamp purse or a piece of jewelry.

I bought myself a little blank journal for DS to write in every year in lieu of getting me a Mother's Day card (I also bought one for DH for Father's Day), so I've asked DH to fill it in on DS's behalf until DS can do it himself (he's only 9 months haha).

How about a day without kids?!? That's how I like spending mother's day! Though people would say without the kids, you wouldn't be a mother! But you know what... a day without kids would be lovely!! The husband and I have different perspective on this.

My MIL is local so I've always shared. So long as I get half the day just with my little family, I'm happy.
Last year they came over for brunch. Then we had the rest of the day all to ourselves. This year we'll probably host dinner. So I'll prob ask to go out to brunch. -

I want to go to a kid-friendly tea! There are a few in the city and Wagon Sr. has made some reservations... I'm going to do some research and choose the one that is the most kid-friendly. One year we went to a brunch in a five star hotel and they had a whole play area set up, a live band, all these entertainers... it was SO fun for them, and we got to eat delicious food too. Then I'd love some great weather so we can go to the playground.

@snowjewelz: I have this same journal for myself!!!! I was given it when I turned 30 and it's been so fun to look back at what I was doing the past year. After I became a mom I started writing tidbits about LO in there too!!
