I just realized Mothers Day is on the weekend we're planning to go to Orlando to visit Sea World for DS's birthday (which was actually last week), so I guess we're doing that. But that actually beats having to plan something in town for the entire family because we always end up making Mother's Day a huge deals and everyone (our moms, grandmothers and aunts) is local, so we don't leave anyone out.

We are taking a 13 hour road trip with LO to Illinois to visit the in-laws and my brother and his family. We're getting there Saturday so hopefully Sunday/Mother's Day will be a day of recovery and fun times visiting family. It will be the first time LO meets his SIL, cousins, and my DH's brother. Even though I dread the road trip with LO I am really looking into a week of vacation and visiting family and friends.

@Mrs. Pen: We're in the same boat. I'm starting a new job the week before; my husband is in the thick of his finals and I'm nearing mine which means lots of papers to work on. Unfortunately my birthday is the day after and our anniversary 6 days before...not sure how we're going to celebrate any of them!!

I'd love a lie in, DH to take care of all LO's needs for the day and for the weather to be gorgeous so we could have a picnic (that DH packs) in the park and DH could run around with LO. I could watch them while sat on my pregnant butt eating cake

I haven't had great luck with Mother's Day since becoming a mom so I told DH I don't want to celebrate it and we should just focus on our moms. I just wanna make it through in one piece! I know DH wants to do something for me, which is so sweet, but I feel like planning something will make something bad happen, lol. I know that sounds silly though!! Anyway he's scheduled to work that day (12 hrs) so I told him maybe another day.

Last year my mom scooped me and invited us over for lunch before I even had a chance to think about what I wanted to do. (Getting out the door and managing a 45-minute drive with a 2mo was not high on my list of preferred activities.) And then she invited her friend, who I don't especially like, over to meet the baby.
This year, Mother's Day is two days after a big family wedding, and it's also the last weekend day I will have with my son before I leave for a 3-night business trip the following weekend. So, I am planning to stay home with our immediate family.

I would really love to go shopping. I want/need a handful of new things and I rarely get to go and have time by myself to try things on. But, DH has to work so I will probably take DD out for a yummy breakfast. My sister is moving back to town and if she is back by then I would love for her to hang out with us on that day
