My FIL is really undecided about what he would like to be called so I am looking for some fresh suggestions.

T has my dad and FIL, and then my stepfather. All three are "Papaw".

R can't really talk yet but we call my dad G and my FIL pop-pop or grandpa, depending on who's talking.

LO picked their names : my dad is Babas and my FIL is Pop-pop.

They use the Cantonese words for grandfather. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for! Yah-Yah (father's father) and Gong-Gong (mother's father).

Tata. {My dad was pushing for Papa, but DH nixed it because it's literally Dad in Spanish.}

Granddad and Pop. DH called his grandfather Papa. I have Norwegian friends who call theirs Farfar.
ETA: DH just told me that in German, grandfather is pronounced "grossfather"

@Katrocap: In Norweigan, it actually depends on whose parent it is! Farfar would be paternal grandfather (means father's father), and morfar is maternal grandfather (means mother's father).
We were thinking of going with the Scandinavian terms for my parents, but I think they prefer just grandma and grandpa. I always like these threads! So fun to see what everyone is called

@theotherstark: I had mormor and morfar.
DS calls his grandfathers Papa and Pops.

DS choose to call my dad "pa pa" and he calls my mom "grandma." We let B choose.

@travellingbee: Awww I really wanted to have our LO call my mom mormor, but she said she likes grandma best. We will see what our little guy actually ends up calling the grandparents! Sounds like sometimes they decide on their own!

Grandpa and papap.
My dad was also undecided and looked up every language's options (he is weird). he suggested "ye-yo" which is think is used in Cuba!? And oh-pla which is Greek (we are neither, and my whole family vetoed both). Now he is just grandpa. Which c pronounces gam-pa, so that might stick.

Captain (my dad-retired Navy captain) and papa (FIL) and Pops (step-FIL)

Pop Pop. He picked up from my nephews and niece. It was their nickname for my dad until they could say Grandpa. He calls my mom "Gaga."

So far using Chinese terms: "ye ye" and "gong gong" and Grandpa. I like "paw paw" - might start using that since it's easy as well.

Lots of Papas, a Grampa, an Opa, and then FIL is "Ojii" short for "Ojiisan," the Japanese word for grandfather.
eggplant / 11408 posts
LO doesn't talk yet, but when we talk about her grandfathers, My dad is Opa, and DH's is Pap. My FIL picked his name after his dad, and my sisters actually helped come up with my dad's name. He was really resistant to pretty much everything, but we tried Opa, and it stuck!
@singingbee: lol, for a while, my dad wanted to be called "sir." Um, no.
@Mrs. Confetti: that is what we did! We are German, but generations ago. Whatever, it works
@erinpye: Do they use Oma for their grandma, too?

Another suggestion would be Nono, which I believe is Italian. That is what some friends of ours use.
